Great Little Guitar!!

John Borchardt

I have been in the market for a parlor guitar for quite some time, mostly due to the reduced size. My other acoustic is a bulky dreadnought, and I wanted something smaller, but not a 3/4 size. I really liked the look of this guitar, with the natural wood and deep browns, and gold machine heads. It's hard to appreciate the appearance of this guitar until you see in person. It really read more is a great-looking guitar. My concern about buying a parlor, of course, was the sound. I've played with a few parlors at my local guitar shop and I had mixed reviews. Of the three or four I played, one sounded a little flat and muffled, one sounded pretty good, but the other almost sounded like a ukulele.Because the Takamine I bought was a demo, it was discounted $; so I took a chance on it. This guitar sounds great!! While not as loud as my dreadnought, it still produces a bright sound. One of the complaints others have about parlors is they sound and feel really tight and tuned too high, which was kind of my first impression too. I tuned it down a half-step and was a little blown away by how much better it sounded. With the less tension and the lower action, the overall playability of this guitar became apparent. This is a really fun and great sounding little guitar and I would recommend it to anyone.

Tone it down!

An extremely well-built parlor guitar. Absolutely gorgeous. And yet it is so high strung it is very difficult to play. The solution is tone it down from E to c. Brings out the nice bass sounds. Its just a much better sounding guitar and way easier to play.

I bought this guitar in order to have a small friendly instrument for fingerpicking while sitting in the kitchen after supper. :-) I wasn´t really bored with my dreadnought and super jumbo. Just wanted to enjoy its small body and its warm touch. No disappointment at all. Actually this is my most favourite guitar at the moment. No matter what style you play, this a real pet for read more every musician.

this guitar is surprising. the materials used on this model is not what you'd find on a guitar that costs as little as this. the finish is gorgeous and the rosewood back and sides with the maple wedge on the back is just beautiful. I've always played Martins that are much bigger, 0000 sizes are what I've played for years. I have a J-40 and an M custom that is mahogany instead of read more east indian rosewood. the J-40 is actually the prettiest sounding guitar that I've ever heard ,, and costs 10Xs what this guitar costs. I always have the guitar that I play on my stand in the living room, and I rotate them for a change. since I bought this parlor size it's the one I play because it's so small and comfy.

Always wanted a parlor size guitar and this one is the boss. I put custom light strings (11's) on it and the sound just blossomed. The shape of the neck makes it very comfortable. Great setup, usually aimed up makin some adjustments but not this time.
