Great reverb that works well in front of an overdriven amp
This is my 4th or 5th reverb pedal and the first one that really works well in front of an overdriven amp. I haven't put in an effects loop yet, but I'm sure it will do well. What's nice about this pedal is it does one thing and one thing only very well and that is a solid plate reverb emulation. Most pedals try to do multiple things on a acceptable level, but this one nails the… read more one thing it was designed to do. I've had numerous Catalindbread pedals and they all work great.
UNBELIEVABLE !
First of all I want to thank Jason for getting me this pedal so fast and upgrading my shipping he's the man I'll try to be short I was never really big on reverb. Got a Hall of Fame 2 and Keeley Omni reverb friend has a strymon Blue skywas I've been digging the plate reverbs on those units never really cared for spring reverb then I heard about the Catlibread talisman seen some… read more videos decided to take a chance on it and the other review was true it makes you want to play it's more than a plate way more you can have it set back to minimum with no pre-delay with mixed control way down high pass up or you can make it very pronounced the high pass filter is unbelievable you can actually cut reverb with it when you're up high for adjustments well I don't think it cuts reverb it just sort of pulls it out somehow with the bass whatever it just brings out your tone and does something to it you have to try it I promise you will love this thing it is unbelievable I'm going to try the 18 volts on it now I've only been using it on 9 volts I'm just trying to do people a favor if you're thinking about it I promise get it, it is the sound of the 70's and much more and all the knobs do so much together very interactive I got to get two of these on my board set one up for my favorite reverb and just leave it like that and the other with the pre-delay up for a fast delayed Van Halen kind of thing with the pre-delay up, yes it works great for that and plus I'll have it for backup The volume gives you a nice bit of something too looking forward to trying it with 18 volts anyway at least you know I love it and I'm very picky about reverb promise you
Really nice little pedal!
I recently bought this pedal (from Sweetwater, of course), and I like it a lot. Unlike most other pedals, it's a bit of a one-trick pony (as you'll most likely read in other reviews), but what a sweet sounding reverb this gives. My instrument is the pedal steel guitar, and I usually like a subtle plate or hall reverb. I'm not interested in caverns, interplanetary sonic adventures… read more - my own preference is for the sound of the instrument itself, and this one delivers. I'm a big fan of the Lexicon racks (my favorites being the Lexicon 200 and the MPX-550), but sometimes you can't haul them around for gigs. I've tried reverbs from TC Electronics, the Golden Reverberator, plus quite a few of the inexpensive pedals, and none of them did it for me. If you want a reverb that continually announces itself, this one is not for you, but if you want a sweet and subtle reverb pedal, I think the Talisman would be hard to beat.
One of the best out there
You might think "it's a little expensive for just a plate reverb" but HOLY CRAP does it nail a plate reverb unlike anything else on the market. Meticulous detail went into this emulation of a very renown plate reverb from the past. It even generates the distortion and damper noises like you'd get with a real plate, it feels like you have a massive plate reverb in the room. The high-pass… read more is a brilliant touch and it can get downright drenched in reverb or you can dial the mix as subtle as you want. I literally feel like this is an always on reverb for me, and there's a TON of interplay between the knobs, so you can actually get a diverse range of sounds out of it without a ton of work. If anything happens to mine, I will be immediately replacing it with another. One note, definitely run it at 18 volts, the increased headroom from running at 18v will make the built in preamp brilliantly transparent.
The classic rock reverb tone
Once I owned this pedal I started realizing how many of my favorite albums used this plate reverb. Rush, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, CCR, it literally puts your sound into that era. I have tried many reverbs, and I am blown away by this. I'm about to try it on 18 volts, apparently that changes up the headroom. I don't need an improvement from 9 volts, it's just for experimenting. Needless… read more to say, 5 stars.
