As most people know the x14 Taylor series is considered the Swiss army knife of guitars. This 214ce dlx is awesome. I like the all satin finish and colored tuning pegs.

..........so great. After a long wait, prayer, fairly extensive research, and much thoughtful consideration--I ordered the Taylor 214ce Deluxe with ES-2 Expression System; and am extremely pleased with this instrument. I was considering a Takamine and a Yamaha acoustic electric as well. However, the Tak was on back order and the Taylor reviewed just a little better than the Yamaha read more in several forums. They ran very closely and I purchased the Baggs Para DI/EQ upon several recommendations by owners of this particular Taylor--but I've not had need of using it. Upon unboxing and playing, I immediately loved the unplugged acoustic tone, action, and intonation. As with my 25 year old 810, this guitar performed well whether strumming or fingerpicking. After a quick start read of the electronics, I ran it straight into my Sweetwater purchased Behringer Studio Monitors via the auxiliary quarter inch input, leaving all EQ on both guitar and monitors flat and bringing the volume up on the speakers to check signal to noise issues and gain before feedback. It had a terrific strum sound up and down the neck and capoed as well. Then I brought the volume up on the guitar to fingerpick. Without use of feedback buster, I was able to get plenty of volume with no feedback and no noise. I repeated this process plugging straight into a QSC k8 powered speaker, and it delivered even better with no tweaking or fuss. I've used this guitar about 8 times in live concert with my Fleetwood Mac tribute band, running it through TC mini tuner and Fishman Platinum Stage EQ/DI(set to flat) and housed in my Sweetwater purchased Voodoo Lab Dingbat mini pedalboard. As of this writing, I've only used the guitar on fingerpicking("Never Going Back Again" "Landslide" "Big Love" "Oh, Daddy"). It has performed extremely well with no hassles, aggravation, or issue. I've yet to use it on variety classic rock solo performance, but I do feel confident that this will be a terrific overall acoustic. I was a bit concerned having no mid control, but the mids are wonderful just the same. Hardshell quality Taylor case came with the instrument. I'm so pleased and want to thank Bob Mondok and crew for keeping me in good gear at good prices and in good time.

I've been a guitar and banjo player for 40+ years, played some great guitars. When I opened the case and picked up this one I will say I was a little nervous. After admiring the awesome workmanship I played a few chords and was very excited.I took it in my music room and checked the tuning on my Roadie 3.Got it in perfect tuning, the tuners are really high quality.Up and down the neck read more everything was right on.The intonation was perfect.Checked it out with a Shubb capo, down to the 7'th fret sounded great. The action is so great, plays like a dream.I have big hands and was a little concerned that it was described as narrow neck.Don't let this concern you.It is the best playing neck that I have ever used.I plugged it into a Fishman Mini Loudbox.I can't really describe the sounds other than it deserves more than 5 stars. My thanks to Gage for another awesome transaction. When I decide to buy any instrument on line,I go straight to Sweetwater and Gage.I'm not big on writing reviews but in this case it might help someone making a decision. You can't go wrong with this one.

I can't believe how great this guitar sounds and how EASY it is to play. I am so happy with this purchase and am so happy I picked the Black 214ce which features the maple bottom and sides. I really don't have a reference for a high end guitar to compare this too but for me this feels like what a mid-high end pro guitar would be like. I've been playing a Guild F-130 sun burst which read more I think is very nice, but I wanted to have and see what the next level up or two would sound and feel like, plus I wanted the Taylor name. Since I am writing this during the Corona virus time, I was like many people, spending a lot of time at home and what better way to spend the time by getting back into playing. Well this baby really lifted my spirits with it's rich tone and playability. I can only speak for this Taylor but I can say without a doubt, it is indeed a superb instrument! And Sweetwater took care of me very well as always! Free APO shipping! Thank you Brian Loney.

Love My Guitar

I love my new Taylor Guitar because it is great to play! I was used to playing electric guitar or acoustic with high actions which makes you work to play and this guitar is so easy to play because the action is low and almost plays itself. I have two other acoustic guitars that can't compare to it. I just found a new love for playing acoustic guitar again. I also think it is a read more really good looking guitar with quality workmanship.

WOW!

I just bought this for my son. When it arrived it was all setup by Sweetwater team and tuned and polished, inspected and tweaked to perfection. I wanted to teach my 8 year old how to play guitar. I have a priceless Martin and a newer martin and another Taylor. I started playing this and WOW!!! I mean this is the most playable guitar i have played. The sound is smooth like silk. read more Basses not to boomee, Highs crisp but not brittle, mids smooth. I could not put it down!! I brought out my Martins and laid them all on the bed. I Picked up one, then played the Taylor 214ce deluxe black, then the super expensive Martin. The Taylor found us all with our mouths open. Unique to its own smooth and sweet. The Martin necks were wider and fatter. I am over 6'2" and have big hands, but holy crap The Taylor 214ce just played itself, I played licks i only played back in High School. I am still confused. Why is this guitar so easy to play? The neck is so perfect. Narrow, but plays like a wide, Glisses just slide like gravy without finger fatigue. Sound is big but not overwhelming. Sits in you lap perfect. All I can say is if you are reading this review buy this guitar now. You will never look back. It will blow you away. Make sure to get some Taylor polish and a nice cloth to wipe the instrument down when you put it down.. Then again you might just never put this baby down! I am in heaven. Oh Yea!! It was for my son. Well I just called Sweetwater and Nick Church to see what the difference from the DELUXE Taylor 214ce Black and the Taylor 914ce Natural is. On paper they look identical except in price and finish. Either way I will be buying one of those next month. My son...he has a guitar that is the best playable acoustic ever made and sounds like a $10k Martin. Amazing. Truly the best choice of a guitar I have ever made. Forget the price. To some its like cheap. To others it may seem like you should not buy it. BUY IT! Its will blow you away. Great job Taylor! This is a dream to play. Thank you for making me enjoy the guitar again. Cloth, Polish, picks. Thats all you need to bring this thing to life. Don't forget to let Sweetwater string it up and do its inspection and setup! You will open the case and WOW!! Worth every dime. Oh and if you ever leave your wife or run from a fire..GRAB THIS first when you leave the house. That way you will be able to bring back happiness into your life and others. Cheers
