This was the first"premium"guitar I've ever bought and it was a tough decision. In fact , it came down to a single coin flip between this and a Martin DSS . I'm very pleased with the winner . Tone and sustain for days . The gloss top and flat finished back , sides , and neck are a great contrast. The neck profile is very comfortable in with the 1.75 inch nut width. This is all the read more guitar I'll ever need but I may check out that Martin one day . As a back up .

First this is an absolute spectacular guitar. Great tone and you don't lose anything no matter where you are playing on the fretboard. The best part of this was Sweetwater. I have purchased many Guitars and can say I'm a little hard to please. This is the first guitar I have bought that I cannot find one thing wrong with. I had them replace the nut, the bridge, and install a Baggs read more Anthem pickup. I left specific instruction on action and setup. They nailed it exactly. When I say exactly I mean it. I measured and they are dead on. I checked the neck relief with a gap gauge and its spot on. GREAT JOB SWEETWATER!!!!!! This is a first for me. I will never buy another guitar from anyone else. I wish I would have done this sooner.

Awesome tone.

This guitar simply sounds awesome. No issues whatsoever. Even the case is super nice.

If you want to check out the V-Class & dip your toe in the Sustainable Wood Pool this is your guitar

I wanted to try both so this is what I decided on, it was a good decision. First the woods they"re trying to use now are NOT different tonally they"re trying to use different woods that sound like Rosewood & Mahogany for sustainability reasons. I"ve had a J-45 & a few D-28"s for decades but I"m on my 3rd plug-in Hybrid car so I thought why not combine the experiment. After doing read more some reading & seeing Walnut, Ovankol, Tasmanian Blackwood, Sapele, Richlite, my fave (sarcasm) "select hardwoods"¿? Cherry Wood, Cedar etc etc. I know some of these woods have been used for decades but not on a large scale which is the goal. So my thought process reading about all of these was that most people around my age are going to be turned off by a Walnut back & sides with a Select Hardwoods neck & a Richlite fretboard especially if you"re looking in the $1,500-$2,500 range. Under $1,000 absolutely a different story. So I took the few guitars that I was comfortable with & ended up with the 317. I sort of knew what Sapele is & knew it was going after the Rosewood sound. Mahogany Neck, Ebony Fretboard & Nickel hardware - all right up my alley. Also it has an ebony veneer on the headstock, the bridge, bridge pins, truss rod cover are Ebony, black binding & a black pick guard so someone smart did sweat the "small stuff". No big deal for some some but definitely a big deal to me, they make the guitar from an aesthetic standpoint. From a tone standpoint the guitar speaks for itself. It"s a big guitar with a pretty big neck & obviously a little stiff right now. It"s noticeably bigger than a D but i don"t think it"s as big as a J-200 it"s leaning that way though. It has a massively huge voice, it"s a cannon!! It"s articulate with good note definition & on the bright side of the tone spectrum. High quality build, the intonation is perfect enough for me & it stayed in tune through two nights (that"s good, I"m not easy on them) & the case is so cool I even took a pic of that. It"s a great first step into the sustainable wood situation, baby steps. For the money you can"t go wrong with this one it"s worth every penny & definitely a keeper. If you"re accompanying a singer make sure they have a microphone!!

This guitar sings like a choir

I don't know how they did it, but this guitar sounds like two guitars playing in unison. And sustain--I wouldn't be surprised if the one I tested 3 days ago is still ringing. It has superior craftsmanship and is aesthetically beautiful. This guitar has its own sound, but rivals and complements Martin. This piece of art has the voice and beauty of an angel, and plays likes butter, read more too. I cannot recommend it more highly.
