American Dreams do come true!
Ever have one of those times where you want something of quality, but don't want to go broke getting it? Of course you do, that's why you're here on the Sweetwater site! After daydreaming for months and drooling over acoustic guitars in the hopes of upgrading from my Taylor GS Mini, I remember reading about Taylor's American Dream series of guitars - a genius concept developed… read more due to the limitations imposed on the world by the pandemic of 2020. Andy Powers, Bob Taylor and the Taylor team came up with what many thought impossible: A quality, all-solid wood, affordable AMERICAN MADE acoustic guitar, based on their popular Grand Pacific slope-shouldered dreadnought design, incorporating their V-class bracing architecture. By focusing on the superior design elements and keeping the aesthetics simple (yet tasteful), they hit this one out of the park with the American Dream series. This guitar represents the best of Taylor guitars: focusing on the needs of guitar players, while keeping the quality high and the price modest. The sound of the AD17 is, of course, terrific, but the playability is where it shines (it is a Taylor, after all). The neck is extremely comfortable, and the chamfered body edges (normally found on their Builder's Edition guitars) are a marvelous touch in this price range. And the new Taylor Aerocase? Wow! Great looks, functionality, and near hardshell case levels of protection, Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the guitar arrived from Sweetwater in perfect condition, setup perfectly to my liking and packaged as carefully as a newborn baby would be. (Best in the business, as far as I'm concerned.) Have to also give a big shoutout to my sales engineer, Tom Maxwell. Tom always goes above and beyond, and follows up on my purchases to ensure my complete satisfaction. Tip of the hat to you, my man!
Perfection!
I normally avoid full sized guitars, because my stubby arms and overgrown belly make it difficult for me to hold and play them. But when I saw this guitar, I couldn't resist. I'm so happy I made that choice! This guitar fits like a glove. It's light, comfortable, and both easy and fun to play. The tone is really amazing, and I just can't put it down. An American made guitar… read more of this quality should cost an awful lot more, so thank you Taylor, I'm now a customer for life!
Lots of bang for your buck!
I have a hard time with dreadnoughts. My short stubby arms and oversized belly make it hard to get my arms around one. But as I looked at the size and measurements, I thought it might work. I have wanted an American made, solid wood instrument, so I decided to take a chance. I'm sure glad I did! This is an amazing guitar. It's light, comfortable and very easy to play. The string… read more spacing is perfect for me and my fat fingers are less likely to mute the other strings! The tone is crisp and bright and it sounds spectacular whether you are strumming, flatpicking or fingerpicking. I have some very nice guitars, but this has quickly become my go to. At this price, you just can't go wrong.
