Tone Zone
I put this into a 2000 SG Special in the bridge position. Someone had replaced the original with an inexpensive Johnny 5 Telecaster Special Design humbucker. The results were thicker more definitive notes and much better tone. This pickup works well in the middle position with the current neck pickup...what ever it is...I thought this pickup would be too much overdrive for the music… read more I play....old guy rock and blues....but even one of my much younger musician friends was surprised at this too as he is as metal oriented as metal can get...he shops for boutique gear and has an eye and an ear for quality he loved this pickup too. His expectations were like mine. It works for smooth sustain for the Gary Moore tones and Since I've Been Loving You... Zepplin tones ...and when the situation calls for Merle Haggard or Buck Owens I can clean it up and get a fairly beefy Tele tone too. As with most gear the better your musical back ground and the better you understand the tone you are looking for the more you will hear the nuances this pickup will bring. I still need more playing time with this to give it a 5.0 but it is a decent price for a better pickup in comparison. Good luck with your decision what ever you choose
