Great function - interesting design

my employer purchased this pedal for me in recognition of effort; Fender products is what I had to choose from. I had selected it, before I remembered Line6 expression input is mono. Found a use for it though. The GOOD; This pedal has a very smooth operation allowing for micro volume input signal adjustments. I can mitigate clipping the mic input on my "C" channel line into the read more mixing board when I use a boost/WAH in front of it without having to trim the channel input. I pulled back one star because I don't understand Fender's design focus. Was it cost reduction before function on this tread light pair of pedals- hope not. The needs attention: Its a slightly smaller form factor and a pound lighter than most brands of WAH/exp. pedals on the market. (as pic'd next to a VOX WAH). The foot plate is small, with a wood grain insert accent piece that serves no purpose other than a label. The plate is relieved in a manner to provide access to the LED switch. The blue LED when illuminated is obscured by the plate especially in the down position. Jacks out the back are nice except they put the 9v power inlet so close and parallel to the exp. output jack that a 90deg plug interferes with the power plug connector. Fenders design accommodates straight plugs to be used on these pedals. All of the right elements for a great pedal I think Fender just needs re-think the strategy for these. Perhaps a lesser styling innovation focus leaning back towards a fundamental use focus. If Fender were to read the reviews of their products; Firstly, move the LED switch to the back like on your other pedals. Give it a full size footplate, maybe punch a logo type "F" through middle of it for the blue light to shine through and no need for wood grain plastic just a rubber foot pad. Add some weight and overall footprint, and move the 9v power inlet away from the jacks. Innovation's could be selectable buffered or bypass output. How about a stereo or mono exp. output switch. Focusing on innovations that are around player utilization and practical application scenario's would drive the sales scope of this pedal. If the cost of manufacturing is the focus; Have Crybaby or VOX manufacture them for you and brand logo the footplate as mentioned. Player's if your an Fender enthusiast this pedal will meet your expectations. If your a regular tone to cost conscious player and not brand centric this pedal is an capable option if pedal board size and weight is a needed consideration.

Good pedal but not compatible with Line 6

Was really excited about this pedal. Loved the aesthetic, the size, the option to switch on a light. And as a volume pedal it works well, nice smooth sweep, feels good under your foot. The big issue for me is that it's not compatible to use as an expression pedal with my HX Stomp. This was mainly why I bought it, to use in exp mode, switch between volume/wah and other parameters. read more Bummer.

Smooth As Glass

The Fender Tread-Light Expression Pedal is not only a beautiful addition to my pedal board, but provides a consistently smooth volume spread with either clean or dirty sound effects that I use. It keeps the full signal integrity of my guitar sound while backed off when I'm doing rhythm work in the background, as well as when I crank it up to solo my lead work. It's not as big as read more some expression pedals I've used and takes up minimal space on my board. When I use it for volume swells with my clean patches, that's where the glassy smoothness of this pedal really shines. The blue light underneath the foot treddle is a real bonus because it looks so cool on stage, giving the appearance of a much more sophisticated piece of gear than it really is. I'm pleased with this particular Fender product, even though I play a Les Paul through it. This is where the two rival manufacturers shake hands in agreement and produce beautiful music together. The price is reasonable and I'd recommend it to anyone who has a need for a great expression pedal for their board.

Great!!!!

The only real thing I have to say is that the petal does not need a 9v power to work, that is just so that the LED light on the bottom turns on. And there is a place you can plug in a 9v battery on the bottom of the petal that also runs the LED light. Every thing else about the petal is awesome!! I have only had it for one day so I cant speak to how long it will last but out read more of the box everything is perfect. P.S. to all you first time expression petal buyers out there, you need a TRS patch cable to work the expression. Which is different than a regular patch cable. Just though I would put it out there so you don't make the same mistake I did lol
