I prefer the MK V series and JP 2C

I bought this amp to add to my other boogies. I currently own a MK V 25 head and MK V 35 combo. Not sure how to explain it but there is a difference between the MK Vs tone and the TC-50. I decided to sell the TC-50 and save up for a JP 2C.

Couldn't be happier

I purchased this amp to either replace my Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue (with a P10R) or offer another choice for my playing which is done at home right now. I once had a boogie express plus, which was not able to really fit my playing, and moving to the Princeton was better. But I bought that because it was what I could afford, I didn't buy it because it was the right amp, dumb read more idea. The Princeton with my pedal board was great, but I just couldn't let go of the idea of buying the right boogie amp. I chose the right one this time. There are essentially 6 channels if you count the mode switch on each channel and the clean channel is just extraordinary in either mode and takes pedals so well. Big full sound, warm with loads of harmonic content, it's just awesome. Both the LO and HIGH channels have more gain, but are both really versatile. I tried 6V6 tubes first, and I was not happy with the character of the gain I got, it was fizzy and ragged. I changed to EL34's and it totally changed to smooth rich drive. One great thing about the amp is that it has a master volume on each channel and then the master output control, and it allows you to really dial in great tones at whatever volume you are looking for. But even set lower in volume, it sounds gigantic. I used a decibel measuring app, and between about 80-85 db it sounds much bigger than my princeton amp does, although that sounds great too. If you can swing it as far as the price goes, and you want something that can do beautiful cleans to a great distortion, I don't think that you can do much better tone wise. It's really an amazing piece of gear, and I could not be happier. I give 5 stars to the amp, but this time my purchase with sweetwater didnt go smoothly. The amp arrived not packaged well, with broken power tubes, and it took 5 days to get the correct tubes, as Sweetwater sent me non mesa tubes which require the amp to be biased, which is not something I can do myself. I will continue to shop sweetwater though, because I think this was a total aberration, and nothing like this has happened since I started buying with them 10 years ago. Like I said though, I couldn't be happier with the amplifier and Dustin Keesbury my sales engineer did everything he could to take care of me.

This is a "forever" amp

I've wanted a Mesa Boogie since I was a teenager in the 90s and I'm so glad I bought the model that lives up to the hype I've built up in my head. This is a 3 channel amp, but every channel has two different voices so you're dealing with nearly a 6 channel amp every time you plug it in. And this isn't some modeler, it's a tube amp. Start swapping the EL34s to 6V6s or 6L6s and read more you have even more tones available. Want a Fender Twin? It's there. Want a Princeton Reverb? There. Want a Marshall? Brown Deluxe? Mark Series Mesa? Dual Rectifier? All there, and that's not even counting the tones that the amp has in its own voice. And it even has a headphone out on a tube amp! It's worth every penny. Look at the thread on the Gear Page about this amp. I prefer to run mine with 6V6s despite the fact this drops the wattage to 25W; they give a raw, almost fuzzy tone on the blue and red channels that I love. The only perceivable downside to this amp is the amount of knob twisting and tone exploring you can do with it

Fantastic

I've been playing since '74 and can't believe I waited so long to add a Boogie to my gear. I alwaus assumed that all the "hub-bub" about Mesa gear was just normal hype as is usually the case with most gear. After picking my jaw off the floor after the first 10 minute jam session after setting it up once getting it out of the box, I realized there was absolutely no hype behind this read more engineering master piece. Randall Smith is an actual genius. Thanks to Sweetwater for establishing such a great company and shoutout to my Sales Engineer Zach Garrison for the fantastic service with this, as well as all of all my purchases.
