i bought this pick up as well as a bridge pick up for a gretsch 5230t as an upgrade, and i was extremely unimpressed which is odd since the tv jones in my telecaster are amazing and continue to blow my mind everytime i play that guitar, the pickups have this odd quality where they are muddy and bright at the same time where the bass notes and mids are muffled and very quiet and… read more the trebles are really dull or ice pick bright could be that i was very unlucky and got defective pick ups or something, ive tried countless things, string change, messing with the settings on amps, different amps and there is nothing i can do to make the sound ok, i wouldn't recommend these but it could be i got unlucky

I swapped out the neck pickup on my Gretsch Streamliner with one of these. So happy I did. In comparison I would say the originals have a more muddy, even, dull kind of tone. The TV Jones have much more expression and overtones. It's just a much more interesting sound. When you hear the guitar now, you go wow that's a quality instrument.

The more I play this pickup the more I like it. Put it in a Gretsch 5420T and I am so glad I did. It gives you that classic Gretsch sound that this guitar was missing. It is so crisp and warm. A very articulate pickup. I recommend this and the TV Jones TV Classic Bridge pickup together.

Bought both neck and bridge pickups. They sound wonderful and oh so old school Gretsch .
