Fender Ultra Hot Noiseless
These pickups produce a nice clear clean tone. They do eliminate the hum that regular single coils have.I can tell very little character differences from regular single coils but not much that it matters. My strat still sounds like a strat. I'm pleased with these pickups.
Great strat sound without artifacts or noise.
First off, the color is AGED WHITE (Sweetwater at this writing says its cream color) and there are actually 3 wires from each pickup, one goes to the switch the others to the ground. The pole widths of the neck and middles are wider to be better positioned under the strings. Each pickup is for a specific position. The covers ae part of the pickup and do not seem removable without… read more damaging them. Unique threaded mounting screws and rubber spacers make mounting easier as the screws and spacers will stay put as you install them. In the box is a wiring diagram "example" from the Ultra strat. Just replace your pickups as wired already or use your original wiring diagram. The cap should be .022 which most strats are already. Regular 250K pots as normally found in a Strat so no pots needing to be replaced. Don't let "Hot' or the high resistance mislead you. Resistance is only part of the equation. These are not super hot pickups. They sound like good single coils with no noise, maybe a little bigger sounding. String to string definition is amazing. There are no pickup height instructions instructions in the box. Bass side should be 8/64 and treble side 6/64 when you press down on the last fret as a starting point and sound fine and also balanced to me that way. As you raise them they get more treble and louder but I did not like them any higher myself - others might. They are big pickups height-wise so they may not fit in a thin Squire. In a MIM and American body they fit in easily. These Ultra series have RED bottoms. The Hot versions are labeled MODERN. Personally, I think Fender needs to better explain the HOT vs the standard Ultra's tone and output to help buyers. Regardless these do sound good and are exactly what I wanted. What people eventually will add to the comparisons is the way they react to picking which I can't do as I no longer have my other strats with Kinmans, Dimarzios, Seymour Duncan or real Strat pickups.
Great sounding pickups
I had the original hot noiseless pickups. They were good, not great. Took a chance on these and I love them. They are hot but not too hot. There's some great vintage sounds in there. I installed these in a fender American performer strat. You can get all the great strat tones out of these pickups. I find myself using the middle pickup quite often. I get a great blues tone out of… read more it.
