Details matter.
Pros: - Round cores (a little less tension on the wound strings). - Very even string to string volume (complex chords are easy to hear). - Great coating on the plain strings (whatever the gold stuff is) that's a bit slicker than plain steel. - A bright, present sound without being shrill or over-emphasizing any nasty frequencies. - Great growl under gain that isn't muddy at all.… read more - Really stable, came right up to pitch and stayed put! - Gold plain strings look pretty cool. Cons: - This is the second time I've tried Veritas strings, and it's the second time something has been wrong as soon as I opened up the packaging. The first time the 'power plain' strings weren't even included (I realize that mistakes happen from time to time). This time the high e string feels as if it's had something roll over it multiple times leaving tiny little dents up and down the string. It still functions just fine (obviously a testament to how well it was constructed), but a fresh set of strings should be just that. - I'm nitpicking here, but why send two sets of plain strings? It just seems wasteful to me especially when the 'power plain' strings are a better match with the veritas wound strings. - Good plain strings may clash visually with your guitar's overall aesthetic. Frankly, I love these! They're easily the most even sounding strings I've used on this particular guitar! But having packaging errors twice in a row prevents a perfect rating. Your mileage may vary.
