Best priced solid state combo amp available

I've been searching for a good reasonably priced 60+ watt combo amp to practice and play small gigs with for a while. I like some of Fenders products but wasnt particularly moved by their LT or GTX series. Boss Katana was solid as well but something just didnt sit right with the dynamic range of the higher distortion sounds to me. Then i played a 5150 tube stack at my friends house read more and it kinda clicked that i should give this Vypyr a try and see if it could emulate at least 80% of that feeling.. Folks, this amp can RIP it does an exceptional job of providing the classic peavey sounds. Clean tones are more than passable and it sounds good at both bedroom and club levels (once you dial in LMH and gain stages). 9/10 would recommend!

Wait on this one....

I recently bought this amp, and also recently returned it. I love Sweetwater, they made no hassle of it what so ever. I think Peavey makes great products, I own a Peavey guitar that someone gave me that I love, and I mean Vai plays out of Peavey amps because they make their equipment for passive pick ups. So, with that being said, wait on buying this one if you are a serious player. read more I had issues with the power supply. I would be practicing and the amp would flat out turn off, or turn off and then the digital display would blink. I'm not sure if it was just my unit or if the model hasn't had all the kinks worked out yet. The BLUETOOTH feature sounds terrible if you want to play at any significant volume. The amp vibrates like crazy when you play the bass out of it. There are some seriously cool sounds when it comes to the amp combos and effects and if you want to use this for practice at a medium range volume and play multiple guitars, an amp like this seems like a good idea. Be prepared to do some manual reading. Which is also confusing. The video "quick start" guide offers little help in terms of how to use the amp. Also they say there is an app which I had absolutely no success finding. I bought this amp because my 20 year old solid state crapped out on me. There's a reason people still use the old stuff... I don't use many pedals so I thought this would be a cool way to explore without spending a ton of money, but I'd rather just get my old amp worked on and buy a multi effects pedal. This amp is difficult to use. Bottom line there's a reason I tried it, and a reason I returned it. If you don't like pressing buttons and navigating through a digital menu or naming your settings one letter at a time like you are putting your email into something with your TV remote, Don't buy this amp. There is just simply too much going on. It was an experiment in the digital world that made me realize I'm an analog guy, I like to see my pedals and settings. I will say this, with your settings on this amp, you will be able to see what levels you have everything set at. Try something like this before you really decide to keep it, despite the NON-FUNCTIONING aspect of the power supply, the amp is cool and I would have liked it to be a better experience, but it's just not for me.

Killer Amp

I've been waiting for this amp for a while and it finally became available so I bought it right away. I was not disappointed. The sound of this small amp is incredible. I'm only using it for practice when I'm not recording in my home studio. However, it could easily be used in a full band setting if mic'd up. I play thrash/melodic death metal. The presets sound so good. I can't wait read more to hook this up to my PC to download editing software. There's so much to explore with this unit. This beats all other modeling amps by a landslide.
