Full disclosure...I'm a huge fan of Wes Hauch and a recent student of his. That being said, this review is not colored by my interactions with Wes or the fact that I'm a huge fan of his work, but it did motivate me to take a chance and have these installed on a price conscious Ibanez RGRT421 by Sweetwater. I've played through and owned numerous passive pickups from various manufacturers read more including Seymour Duncan. I'm a tone snob and have searched endlessly for a pickup that provided me with amazing clarity yet enough aggression to help me get the most out of high gain (tube) amps, small transistor (simulator) amps and guitar effects plug ins. The Jupiter set is the closest I've ever found to a perfect pickup for my needs. The output is definitely hot, but not so hot as to cause break up when I want clean tones. The clarity under gain is something I've never heard before. They are so clear I'm able to push a 6505+ half stack with a TS9 in front to a 7-7.5 on Gain (red channel) and still hear each note of a chord individually and enjoy crazy tight chugs when I'm palm muting. These pickups make the amp better quite frankly. I also ran a REVV G3 through the front end and also isolated through my effects loop and as good as that pedal sounds, these pickups take the tone, clarity and quite frankly crushing satisfaction of playing to a whole new level. The pickups added clarity to my Spark that only the Distortions have gotten close to and through JampUp Pro (iPad) and JBL monitors I drifted into tonal experiences which made me think I might actually not be a terrible player. These pickups did 80's Metal, Thrash, Metalcore, Deathcore, 70's Rock, Blues with tones I've never been able to achieve, equally competently with some simple dialing in of my equipment. I can not recommend these strongly enough. I can't wait to get a 7 String and install them. There's numerous videos on YouTube demoing these and I'd highly recommend you watch the official Wes Hauch / Seymour Duncan video where he describes these pickups and what he was going for. Thanks to Nicholas Weaver and the tech staff at Sweetwater for doing a great job lining these out for me and installing them. \m/
