If you're looking for high power, you can't beat this one
Back in my metal days, I installed this bad boy in my Washburn MG70 to replace the microphonic factory pickup. All I can say is,"WOW!" This thing is brutal. But.....If you split it, it has some really nic single coil tones available. When combined with the middle single coil on an HSS setup, the second position sounds terrific. Perfect for funk, clean metal passages, etc. In a warm… read more guitar this thing is like a sledgehammer. In a bright guitar this thing cuts without being shrill. It actually, much like the description, does have a pretty nice balance between lows, mids, and highs. It will crunch like nothing else. By itself it sounds like a p90 through a cranked tube amp, and hitting an already distorted amp with this pickup sends it right over the edge into distorted heaven. Even still, this pickup tracks well for fleet fingered soloing. It hides nothing. And if you need more articulation vs. saturation, turn your distortion or amp gain down and you have it.
