XTE1046 XT Nickel Plated Steel Electric Guitar Strings - .010-.046 Regular Light Review

Great strings!!!

I normally dislike coated strings for their feel (Elixir, Cleartone) but these do not feel like they have anything added to them. They do sound a bit brighter then normal XL strings but that is easily remedied by adjusting the tone control on your guitar or amp. They are reinforced I would assume in the same manner that Ernie Ball RPS strings are made. Although I never break strings… read more as I am not a heavy handed player it is nicer to have that feature than not. I have these 10-46 on a Les Paul 1/2 step down and they feel and sound great! I would get these again without hesitation.

Couldn't believe how great these sound!

I have used D'Addario strings since the 70s and won't consider any other brand. I saw an ad for the new XT series and thought what the heck. I broke a string last night and changed from NYXLs to the new XTs. I was shocked, I mean really shocked at how much better my guitar sounded. It was like I had a new guitar. These strings have added a sparkle to my sound that I didn't know… read more was in there. The feel is great also. I love the feel of the coating. Great strings and I'm never looking back at the NYXLs.

Very good

So I play a Tom Anderson Classic S which come with Elixer strings. Elixirs are way too slippery for me on the wound strings, particularly in the first 5 positions on the neck when playing 3 and four note per string runs. I tried all the Elixers but they were all too slick. For a while I went over to NYXL regular tensions but they sounded too middy and felt stiff. So I gave these… read more a try. Neutral tone which is good and not as slick as Elixers so easier to keep fingers planted on the lower strings. I still wish they were less slick. I will probably go back to regular non coated XLs which I have used for 20 years and work great. But these are a good, less slick alternative to the slippery Elixers. We must remember that we all have different finger tip sizes, shapes and different skin qualities, so your experience will differ. High quality string.

Fantastic!

I used D'Addario EXL110s for years and I tried other coated strings but went back to D'Addario because of sound, feel, etc. These XT strings sound like an uncoated string, feel like an uncoated string and last longer than even the other coated strings I have tried. I am amazed at how they sound as good as they do, for such an extended length of time. I also switched over to their… read more acoustic phosphor bronze with the same results. It is now the only string I buy.

When the NYXL series was released, it was a huge game changer with their increased breakage resistance, more linear feel when bending, and fuller tone. The XT series takes them one step further. They contain the exact strength, feel, and tone as the NYXL’s, but with the added benefit of a proprietary corrosion resistant coating. The set that I received from D’Addario has been on one of my main guitars for nearly 3 months now, and I’m not BS’ing you, they feel, look, and sound good as the day I installed them (see the included photo).
