Best Yamaha CG172SF Classical

I bought this guitar as a practice instrument I could just pick up off the stand and "abuse". I am *very* pleased with it. I have much more expensive (classical and flamenco) guitars that I really like too, but for this price I don't think there is a better choice . Here are the important points for me: - Very good flamenco-style attack and volume. - Tunes up quite easily with no read more intonation issues. - Nice straight neck. Also really like the feel of the mahogany fretboard wood. - The C neck shape is very comfortable, much like my cordoba C10 - Low action, but not too low. (A little under 3mm at 12th fret which is perfect for me). - Full golpeador to protect the top. - Very nice finish. Also really like the feel of the mahogany fretboard wood. This is an attractive instrument. I have only had her for a few days, but it's already clear I'm gonna have many many worry-free hours on this axe due to its impressive construction. Bill Talley

Great value and quality

Plays like a dream. Can't put it down. Very low action with no buzz, very light. Guitars at twice the price don't feel any better. My salesman Bart always knows which guitar to recommend and once again he was right. Great service and set up. Sweetwater is the best !! Joe C

I've got a couple of flamenco guitars - one custom handmade and one Cordoba GK Studio Pro - and wanted a less expensive guitar to take to parks, the beach, camping, etc. This guitar gets a lot of love so I gave it a try. It's a fantastic guitar - especially for what you pay. The feel, tone, and playability are all great. It's got the attack you look for in a flamenco guitar - read more sparkle and shine. It's also a lovely guitar to behold - simple clean lines and a matte finish that feels good. I'm impressed and can't find fault in the guitar.

Awesome guitar

I've been playing guitar for 2 years. I'd say I'm an intermediate. I love this guitar. I can't stop playing it. The action is great. It's easy to play. No buzzing. It's shocking this is a cheap guitar. Of course the customer service was incredible. Tomir is so sweet. The packages was on time like usual and I received a voicemail from Tomir thanking me for my purchase and letting read more me know the time in which the package would come. Thanks again Sweetwater

Great guitar value for the money

I had been learning / playing flamenco techniques and compas, on a more standard setup cedar top classical guitar. This was fine, but wanted to step up to a more tailored instrument for the style. The Yamaha CG172SF was a good choice. I tried to get one here in the Philippines, as well as a Cordova F7. No luck, as even the biggest music stores , did not stock the models, and seemed read more unwilling to order. I always liked Sweetwater's, customer service.. and their 55 point inspection was no mistake with my choice in the USA. Although they could not send me directly overseas.. I had a shipper that did, in CA. The guitar came out of the box, set up well.. and in perfect shape. It has a lot of punch, and decent natural sustain and clarity.. with the flamenco type growl I wanted. I am also impressed with Yamaha's quality control and standards, for being assembled / tested in China. I suggest watching the Yamaha factory video presentation, from Hangzhou China... which I did before ordering, and still considering models. With the next change of strings, I will try a LaBella 2001 set. I am also going to fab a bone saddle to match the existing, and maybe take down the action just a bit more. I am interested, if it will add even more to clarity of tone. All and all.. a great value for the money out of the box, to get behind a flamenco guitar.
