My impression of the Yamaha LS26

Tom Brosseau

My mother is a retired interior designer of 50 years. She's worked along side a lot of very skilled workers in that time. Carpenters, plumbers, masons, electricians, handymen and handywomen extraordinaire. Part of her job was making sure that her clients were getting what they'd asked for and that what they'd asked for was getting done in the right way. One thing I've heard read more her say over the years is that anyone can paint a wall, and it's true. We've all painted a wall, gone down to the hardware store early Saturday morning to pick out a gallon, a roll of tape, an assortment of brushes and painted that home bedroom, painted that apartment office, painted that guest bathroom. One can do it in a day. But it's how the job gets completed that's the most important. Yes, it's easy to paint a wall, but correctly it takes time, it takes patience, it takes skill. The lines should be perfect, nice and straight. No smudges. The coats should be even. No stroke marks. And here's the thing, one might not ever even know a wall is painted well, but one may always spot a poorly painted one. What do I expect from the acoustic guitar company whose instrument I'm thinking about purchasing? I expect an instrument that will provide me a little support. I can't pretend to do music alone. And I wouldn't want to. Where's the fun in that? Whenever I sit down to play I think of it as a collaboration. The endless mysteries that are discovered on the fretboard is a joint effort. That's the joy of it. The best acoustic guitars are the ones that are finished properly. The ones that are finished properly will always be the easiest to play. And if you've found a guitar like this it'll automatically be great sounding. That's my impression of the Yamaha LS26. You will not find so much as an increment out of place. Every piece of it has been thoughtfully chosen and chiseled and smoothed and fitted by hand. The end deal is masterful, both in appearance and in sound.

Just got this beauty three weeks ago, what a wonderful instrument plays great right out of the box action is perfect, neck feels so right Yamaha really knows it's stuff. Sounds great highs, lows bass just perfection. Hesitated for a long time to order man am I glad I pulled the trigger no buyers remorse here. Working with Sweetwater was just a great experience Tomir Denton was very read more helpful and kept me abreast of order. (back order took 3 months to arrive) the whole experience was just wonderful. If you're considering this guitar consider no longer buy it you'll love it.
