Overall a good effect
I bought the Power Fuzz wah 20/20 to use for bass, to replace my current Morley MWV + fuzz pedal set up in order to streamline my board. The first unit that was shipped was brand new in a box but malfunctioning and Sweetwater, with their usual stellar customer service, very quickly shipped me another one. The replacement unit worked flawlessly. The wah sweep range was good. the… read more treadle resistance was perfect so I can do both a slow filter entrance or a rapid, funky, quack style. The wah volume knob was perfect to adjust any output difference between clean and effected sound or to give the wah sound more presence. The fuzz, in both modes, went from slightly menacing to full blown swarm of angry bees with proper setting adjustments. It's a good fuzz sound which you can also use by itself without activating the wah. I had no preference between vintage or normal settings. At the high fuzz levels I use, and for a bass, the difference was negligible. Unfortunately it didn't work as well for my bass as the set up I hoped to replace it with. I lose low end when I activate it and have to EQ it back at the amp, which affects my clean signal. I tried it on guitar and it works really well ala Hendrix, but I only dabble with skinny strings as a hobby and so I have no reason to keep this otherwise stellar unit. I ended up returning it. Thank you Brian Loney for taking care of the issue with the first pedal. Sweetwater is always 5 stars.
Love it !
I love the switchless wah pedals from Morley and had been searching for a fuzz to add to my board. How perfect is it that this is built right in to my favorite wah ? And that you can use the fuzz and wah independently or together is just what the doctor ordered. Great addition.
A very good pedal
I love the fuzz on this pedal, its very easy to dial in and get it perfect. And this wah is perfect for making your bass scream. I'd say the only issue is that it takes maybe half a second to close to wah effect once you set your foot back down. This seems small but you have to be able to time yourself perfectly if you want to stop your wah at a specific time
What a cool pedal!
I admit, I've only had the opportunity to play with this pedal once. However, it blew me away. The fuzz covers a wide range of distortion, depending not only on the pedal settings, but also on the volume of the guitar. Other fuzz units that I have owned (though I have not owned many) did not do this. So, you could dial back the volume of your guitar and get a mild (or no) fuzz/distortion;… read more crank up the volume and the guitar cuts through really well. I have to get used to the wah - it has a great sound and range. However, as soon as you put your foot on the pedal, it is activated. This will just take playing with it to get the proper feel. I'm glad I bought this pedal.
Useful, versatile.
This pedal has been a lot of fun to use. It seems well made and is quite heavy. The action of the wah treadle is smooth and sturdy feeling. Tonally, the wah has a wide sweep and a fairly mellow sound which is noticeably different from Dunlop or Vox wahs; more even along the frequency spectrum but with less character. The boost feature seems most useful at low settings, but can overdrive… read more an already distorted amp or dirt pedal at higher settings. The fuzz is pretty bright, and a little vanilla sounding (for a fuzz), but it is a good useable tone that works well with other pedals. There is not a dramatic difference between the vintage/modern modes to my ears. Used together, the fuzz adds an aggressive growling sound to the wah that really is what makes this pedal shine. The fuzz and wah seem voiced to compliment each other, which definitely makes this pedal worth considering over a separate fuzz and wah.
