Great Locking Tuners!
Bought for a new acoustic I purchased a few months ago. Wow! Completely replaced the existing tuners with no alterations to my acoustic, holds my strings in pitch acutely, and makes it quick to change strings. Grover's makes a great product!
Good Mini Locking Tuners
I had Sweetwater install these 406C tuners on my new Les Paul Studio when I purchased it last October, as I am a fan of locking tuners. I chose the 406's because the Grover 502C Roto Grip tuners were out of stock at the time. The 4062C mini's are auto-locking, which work pretty good, but my experience with the Grover 502C's that I have on an older Les Paul Studio "seem" like they… read more hold tune better. I am going to be replacing these 406's with the 502's, now that they are back in stock, and I will be able to tell if there is a difference in holding tune between the two, or if it's just in my imagination. I'll update review once installed and used for a while. Side note: The 502's are a direct fit for the Les Paul, no modifications needed.
Not my first set of Grovers
But my first set of locking machine heads. They're what you'd expect from Grover - smooth and precise and the "post within a post" lockers are easy to use. And they fit perfectly in my guitar.
Perfect Fit
I needed to replace the original tuners on my Ibanez AWD-83T and my visual review of available options led me to these. The small retaining screw on the back of the headstock looked like it was in the right location and it was spot on. This guitar was made in China so I wasn't sure if I'd have to adjust any hole sizes but ended up not having to adjust or re-drill anything. Push… read more the shaft through the headstock, screw in the topside nut and washer, and then screw in the small rear screw (I re-used the original screws so I didn't mess up the original screw holes). If couldn't have been easier. The locking aspect of the tuners is a little ambiguous since Grover's instructions barely exist but it's not hard. The locks grip quickly and it doesn't take a lot of turns to bring it up to pitch. The pegs themselves are smaller than the original pegs it came with but it's not a big deal in terms of functionality. I included a couple photos of the front and back. One side are the original tuners and the other side are the Grover replacements.
Grover Mini-Locking Tuner Upgrade
Replaced the standard tuners on my PRS SE Custom 24 with Grover Mini-Locking Tuners per recommendation of Keith Klikas. So far the new tuners definitely do a better job of keeping strings in tune. Fairly easy to swap out and perfect fit.
