Absolutely crushing tones
After watching endless videos on this amp I was finally able to try one out in person. I was absolutely floored. The green channel overdrive is so killer. That alone would probably make me happy. But then you go over to the red and it's just such a crushing wall of sound that made me do nothing but smile. I came home and ordered one directly from SW. Make no mistake this is… read more a 5150!!
Worth the wait.
I preordered this amp way back in September 2020, and I just received it about a week ago. Like many who first heard the EVH demo, I was concerned. What I want to say now is that this amp is worth the wait. Not only does channel 2 sound amazing, but channel two with the overdrive gives more expensive amps a run for its money. The burn button also adds a little more depth and… read more tonal options to the already great sounding channel 2. This amp also has plenty of low end. For all the options you get with this amp, it is an amazing deal.
One Satisfied customer.
This amp is insanely good Don't let anybody else tell you otherwise go test drive one and play it through a good cabinet, I'm plugged into a EVH 2x12 stealth cab and it sounds amazing Plenty of low end tons of gain and this amp is very flexible To achieve many sounds also you can't beat the price, Don't take my word for it, just go play one and decide for yourself. Thanks EVH… read more and thank you sweetwater.
Hot rod sounding 5150 iconic
I got one recently and put a demo video on YouTube pushing it with a BOSS SD1 and Precision Drive by Demon FX. All I can say is this amp lives up to everything I wanted in a hot-rodded tone. It sounds more like a Soldano then a Marshall to me and I've owned both trying to chase and copy Eddy's tones. If you're into tons of mid frequencies with plenty of balance at both upper and… read more lower frequencies than this is the 5150 amp to get. I've also owned the first-generation Fender EVHiii in a 100-watt form and this amp isn't the same as that one...This isn't as compressed in the gain stages which is exactly how Eddy sounded in the early days. It has tons of gain, but it's not compressed, and I proved it using two overdrive pedals pushing both channels in my demo. Check it out on YouTube if you think I'm crazy, let your ears hear the difference. my channel is Just J and search for 5150 iconic
Excellent Amp
Ok look- STOP COMPARING this amp to the 5153. I have the el34 50w and its fantastic. This amp hits a different note. Can it chug? YES!Is it supposed to? NO!This amp is 80s metal heaven, channel 1- clean yet broken not pristine that you would be used to hearing from evh amps- the overdrive!!!!! its F&$kin Fantastic! Arguably the best drive channel i have ever heard. Channel 2- overdrive… read more is smooth- burn is nice to have , use either to your tastes.Noise gate works greatreverb is epic on this thing1/4 power switch does its job- honestly there is a significant drop in volume and power when going down from full 80 to 1/4 20watts.Overall this amp IS NOT designed to be the 5153 on any variation of it- its meant to be its own iconic amp and at $ its an absolute steal.Well done on an excellent playing amp
