Great Engineering
I have these on at least 3 of my Strats and 3 of my Teles and also my Parker Fly Classic. I love SPERZEL. I don't have very many tuning issues and I am a string bender and floating bridge user that depends upon the best gear. I'm a Sperzel user for life.
Sperzel Locking Tuners
The tuners on my Parker Fly Mojo finally started slipping, so I contacted Will Crisp about which Sperzel's I should purchase as replacements. He got back with me the same day with a recommendation of the 6TLSB Trim-Lok set. I purchased them and received them within a few days. Since these were replacements, they were pretty easy to install. No drilling required. There is a specific… read more order that the tuners need to be installed. It's not too tough to figure out, but Sperzel could make it much easier by simply marking the tuners with a white stamp to differentiate the pairs. They are now working great!
Round two...
I had a set of these several years ago and, initially, I didn't like them. I thought they weren't doing their job, then I found out the neck on my guitar was actually moving with weather/temperature changes enough to knock my guitar out of tune almost every time I sat it down. Now that that neck is long gone and has been replaced with a reinforced one these tuners work wonderfully.… read more I love the EZ mount feature as well. I hate drilling pilot holes for any tuners, I'm just way too paranoid. I agree with a previous reviewer that the disk you turn to lock the strings in place is a bit thin and uncomfortable to turn, but I imagine that was done to save weight/material. My only other complaint is that I use thicker strings (a 60 on my low E flat to be specific) and it's a bit of a challenge to thread through the post-eye. Other than that, they're pretty much perfect. Functional and solid.
Sperzel 6LTLCP locking tuners
My slight disappointment is due to the thickness of the locking disk. It is quite thin and can bite into ones fingers - uncomfortable. Not a major issue, but I have some on a Strat Plus that I purchased some time ago - those had a much thicker disk. Also, I had these installed on my Jazzmaster - unless you really know woodworking (I don't), my recommendation is for you to take… read more it to a very competent guitar tech for the installation. Old screw holes have to be filled, new ones drilled for the locking peg, and the hole for the tuning post has to reamed out - at least on my guitar. But that is to be expected. Not a problem - just part of upgrading a guitar. Also be careful - there are two types - those for 6 in line where the tuning machines are on one side of the headstock, and those that are 3 and 3. Make sure you order the right ones for your particular guitar!Bottom line - They work fine - I will probably buy another set for my other strat - though I will first look for ones with a thicker locking disk. :)
Sperzel 6LTLCP Trim Lok Machine Heads
These are the best locking keys available for Strats and Teles . I have them on all my Custom Shop models and the guitars that didn't have them initially now have Sperzels . They keep the guitars tuning dead steady and are perfect for using a tremolo arm .
