Great for my acoustic bass guitar!

I first purchased LaBella Low Talkin' flatwound strings from Sweetwater for my electric fretless Fender Jazz and really liked the smooth warm low end that I wanted. I decided to try something similar for my acoustic bass guitar. I never liked the phosphor bronze strings because they were way too bright on the low end. I searched for tape wounds and these caught my eye. They have read more white nylon tape over the steel that give it a steel string look, but with a nice low end that tape wounds deliver. The feel is amazing and I now have no issue or frustration with the tone. LaBella has been in the bass string market for years and I'm happy to say I understand why. And I also would like to thank Sweetwater for offering such a wide variety of choices compared to other music vendors. And also to Brad Jahn, my sales engineer, for helping me with questions I have, providing great information when I ask for it and promptly shipping my orders.

Amazing

First time using Labella, but had heard great things. This was also my first tape wound. All I can say is, wow! I was hesitant to go with tape wound, having not really liked flatwounds due to higher string tension. These have the lightest tension of any string I've ever used. You'll probably have to add a little relief to your truss rod because these seem very light. So smooth read more and no string noise sliding between frets. While they are like they do not lack tone. I can still slap and get the pops with the tone on 10. But, if you want that vintage tone, cut the tone knob and Those classic muted notes will flow. I bought these for a Fender P-Bass and replaced a pair of new Ernie Ball Slinky's. Night and day improvement of feel. It's like a different bass. Whereas before I felt like I was fighting the strings, these just flow perfectly. I just turned 50 and have been battling both carpal tunnel and early arthritis. After 35 years of playing I think I've found a new go to string. I particularly like the whites because you can't tell they are a tape wound. I'm not crazy about the aesthetics of black strings so these are perfect.

Love these on my Fender P Elite. Silky smooth feel and the balanced tension feels like I'm not fighting as hard to play. Gets rid of the brightness of typical round wounds and keeps all the thud and roundness like a classic bass sound. Think "coated" but even smoother. Almost like flats but with a little extra texture from the inner windings. These would not be my choice if I were read more looking for a bright, snappy sound. H ope that helps, very pleased with this purchase and I'm gonna put these on some of my other basses.

These strings on my Martin acoustic-electric bass sound and feel great. The tone and sustain is wonderful both unplugged and amplified. They are not cheap so I hope they last a long time. Sweetwater service was excellent as usual. With no additional shipping cost, the strings arrived very quickly.
