Awesome for fretless
Just got a new 6 string fretless with a softer fingerboard. I have used roundwounds previously on other fretless basses and I am not a fan of flats. I have been wanting to try these and I was pleasantly surprised! Great solid sound with the mwah I was looking for!
Really Great Strings
I have been struggling trying to find the perfect set of strings for my six-string fretless bass. Rounds sound great but are hard on the fretboard and flats are great for the fretboard but don't have the expressiveness of the rounds. But the La Bella Tapewounds are the perfect alternative. You can get a great "upright" tone playing by the neck and a very articulate tone playing… read more by the pick-ups. The best part is that all of this great tone doesn't seem to get lost in the mix like some other strings and they last for a long time. For me -- problem solved.
Excellent
These are the best bass strings I've ever played. Very warm and dark, but yet different from flatwounds. The nylon makes them easy on the fingers, and easy on the fretboard/fingerboard, and the longevity is incredible; I had a set on a fretless bass for two years and the tone barely deteriorated. The reason for the heavier gauges is that they are lower tension than "normal" strings.
