Perfect fit
All holes lined up perfectly on my 95 AmStd. Looks great, too.
Easy Installation And "Nearly" A Perfect Fit
Installation wasn't all that difficult. Rather than remove my recently installed strings, I simply loosened the four center strings. There was a bit of stress to overcome on the newer pickguard as the holes were not completely & totally, "perfectly" matched but were very, very close. With care & patience, it installed without a great deal of difficulty & I believe it will settle… read more in due time. I consider this to be a minor infraction, however & a tiny bit of super glue applied to the rubber pickup tube guides to hold them in place helped tremendously & facilitated installation. I would also suggest that the temperature of the guitar & pickguard be equal as a difference in temperature might or could cause a "slight" misalignment. I'm mainly a "funky" type rhythm player & my old pickguard really took a beating but my Telecaster looks new again. I'm glad I opted for the opportunity to change it out & have no regrets as things worked out better than anticipated & the price with free shipping was a bargain. Thank you Chuck & thank you Norb for your attentive, expert service & advice.
Fits Player Series Tele
I purchased the B/W/B 3 ply version to replace a Player Series pickguard, on which half of the original pickguard was marred with a bunch of dull matte lines on it, which I discovered only after peeling off the plastic. I've never seen that before on a brand new guitar, and I didn't want to return it. After checking a few Youtube videos, I found it is a simple process. Remove… read more the strings, unscrew the 8 perimeter screws, then gently pull the pickguard up from the body. Unscrew the pickup height screws, and then you can pull the pickup free from below. The new pickguard's holes all lined up to the existing holes on the body, something I was doubtful about, but pleasantly surprised to find out. I had used a piece of blue painters tape to mark the pickup height, and after getting everything screwed back in voila! Peel off the protective plastic, and now my Tele looks as it should.
Black on Blue
I replaced the white PG that came on my 2012 American Standard Telecaster with this black one, out of personal preference. Although it is Fender OEM, it did not line up "perfectly" with the existing screw holes. It works OK, and I can see how parts can differ. I am pleased with the black PG/Mystic Blue Telecaster vibe.
