My favorite bar
I have several of these, as well as a few of the longer 918 bars. I drill out and remove the plastic end piece, so that my double-jointed thumb can get inside better, and reverse slants are a breeze. The only issue I have is not with the bar, but with ME dropping them. Sometimes it's on carpet, so no big deal. Sometimes, it's on concrete, in which case the bar is toast due to rough… read more surface, unless it's so minimal that I can steel wool them back to usefulness. Anyway, these are my favorites also for the perfect weight, size, price and ubiquity. I've tried the very expensive 'hand-made' boutique bars, and while they're nice, I can't afford them, and I'd probably ruin those, too. I am here to order more of these, so I always have a good bar on hand, and one in every one of my lap-steel (I have several) cases. I recommend these highly.
Works well on Mohan Veena
The weight of this slide works great on my acoustic Mohan Veena. Compared to a few different lightweight slides that we had, as well as the Stevens guitar steel, this one's tone is much richer, and a LOT louder. As a matter of fact, I like it the best for use on the Mohan Veena. It's great! It has made a big improvement in sound.
Can't wear it on your finger
Had to find out how this was really made. When I got it, drilled a couple of holes in the red plastic insert and pulled it out. This tonebar is partially drilled out, but not enough to put your finger in. It's only drilled like you see it at the opening for 1/4", and then it's drilled a pencil width hole to only 1 1/8" deep. Will keep it, but it's not what I wanted. Wanted the same… read more slide the guy in the video posted on this page is using. Which slide is that? And forget about the ring size finder on this page, it doesn't apply to this product at all. I'm going to contact the manufacturer - they need to write a better product description, which was no description at all. (probably want the Rock Slide)
