Took about an hour to find the sweet spot on the mandolin which was just behind the bridge and about an 1/16 of an inch below the e string. Somewhat in the way but playable. The only problem is that the adhesive won't hold. It might be the Mandolin finish or the spot is not flat enough. Do you know of another adhesive I could use. Couldn't ask for more from a vibrating electro-magnetic pickup. It has obvious limitations, but you have to know it's not going to sound like a vintage mic setup. On the other hand, Jim Rickard, who designed the Piezo electronics for Charlie Kaman and his Ovation Acoustic Guitars, would be proud of the KNA. Thanks Sweetwater for Gear Fest and a great price on the pickup i needed for my parlor size acoustic. It matches it perfectly. Sounds good so far through a little practice amp.
