Now my GS Hog is Electric!
So I thank my Sales Engineer - Aaron Cieslikowski for all he has done... But regarding my desire for a piezo pickup in my GS Mini - He let me know that no one has tried this one and posted about it yet. So after building up the courage..... The Pickup: DiMarzio Black Angel (Piezo) ***NOT Soundhole Coil version! The necessary Chrome Endpin Jack (aka Belcat) either the "Allparts… read more EP 4605-010" or "Retro Parts RP390C" will work. I was looking for a piezo pickup for my GS mini which I could do myself. I wanted the least risk to my guitar and did not want to spend half the price of the guitar itself for a pickup and luthier installation. The 'DiMarzio Black Angel - Piezo' was just that! Installation has been painless albeit cramped. I would not try this on anything smaller. There was barely enough room on the inside bridge plate - but there WAS enough room with a few hairs to spare. Follow the steps carefully on the included instructions. Test fit each step as suggested BEFORE putting on the glue. CAUTION: I suggest that you tape-mask the included bracket before gluing to prevent some of the glue over-spread from permanently attaching the bracket into your guitar. Apply glue to back of piezo per instruction sheet and then remove the tape mask to keep clamp/bracket clean. I used Titebond Hide Glue in a bottle rather than mix the included hide glue myself. I applied the glue lightly to the piezo and spread it with a toothbrush being careful to limit over-spread. use a razor blade if necessary to trim any glue around the piezo and then remove the masking tape. Attach piezo+bracket per the included instructions! And wait... [Next day] I then replaced the presoldered jack with a Belcat jack similar to the one used by Taylor on the Expression System (see above choices, I used the Allparts). In the end, the fit is perfect and the look is 'factory'! Finally for the plug-in test; The sound clean and fuller than some other piezos I have used. For me - it sounds as I hoped it would! Yes, I am fully satisfied.
