Absolutely love this!!
I own the combo version and this is my go to amp, it takes pedals, it does clean, and it stands out as the beautiful amplifier just sitting there doing nothing! It was between this and a high end fender deluxe. The mesa won me over 10 fold!!!
There's a bit of a misunderstanding about this amp when searching reviews and videos online
There's a bit of a misunderstanding about this amp when searching reviews and videos online. First off, I was looking for something clean to low gain. I found the clean on the Fillmore to be more "sterile" sounding where the CT sounds more "organic" ( I know, I know, not the best word to describe sound). I found the CT more touch sensitive and "cleans up" very well with the guitar… read more volume. I can set up the amp to go from clean to edge of breakup/breakup by simply increasing or decreasing my string attack, as well as with the guitar volume. If you're buying the CT for mid+/high gain don't do it !!! It's not that type of amp and you will be sorely disappointed . This amp is clean to low gain goodness. It's also a great clean pedal platform and takes pedals quite well. It's easily pushed by humbuckers or any higher output pickup. Like with any Mesa/Boogie, do yourself a favor and read the manual. Start with the factory settings and work from there... You won't be disappointed. There is one trick from the owners manual that will give it a great "chewy" gain sound... In the 20 watt mode or lower you can plug your speaker into the 4 ohm output on the back panel. Definitely gives you more dirt and if you push the front end with a boost/overdrive or even a compressor you'll be rewarded with a beautiful sound and feel. I've used it on live gigs with one band that covers 70's classic hard rock, 80's pop rock and 80's hair metal. Easily done with a high gain pedal, overdrive pedal, compressor, boost, delay and mod type pedal. More than enough power and headroom even on the 20 watt setting. With my Strat or Tele it's absolutely glorious. My Les Paul or PRS 594 pushes the front end a bit more and goes from glorious grit by rolling the volume up or down or adjusting my attack. Very, very happy with this amp
