Dunlop CM95 Clyde McCoy Cry Baby
Love this great classic sound that was used in music.
Clyde Mcoy CryBaby Wah
Love it! Great tone and control!
Listen to a Teese first.
I'm just going by the video here. But I've been using wah pedals for 40 years and have drooled of real Clyde McCoy pedals for decades. This Dunlop sounds just like my Thomas Organ pedal from the early 70s, which is a fine pedal, but you can buy them all day long on eBay for a lot less. To get the Still Raining, Still Dreaming wah sound .... you need to keep looking. The best pedals… read more I've seen for this kind of sound is either the Teese RMC2 or the RMC10. Still....they are not perfect, but supposedly Hendrix was using a Clyde McCoy to get that tone and Teese seems to come the closest. The Dunlop sounds like any other Dunlop, and so doesn't warrant this price. Teese is similarly priced and gets a lot more range.
The real Correction!
"not just my opinion" Sorry bud, but it is just your option. It kill me the way these guys come off saying rather strongly.. their way is the only way. How REM10 blows away the Dunlop. I bought an REM10 and let me tell you the truth, It ant bad. That's it. However I think the CM95 just out tones it. Everything he said about the REM10 being 3D and so on, actually applies more… read more to the CM95. Without going into such unnecessary detail, It is just my option not about construction or build just about tone and tone only.. the CM95 sound much closer to what you hear on all those old records we all know and love. It does have a very singing, musical quality about it. Try them both and here for yourself.
Correction to my original review. RMC 10 the "TRUE" Pro Wah!
My Original review stated the description of the Clyde McCoy wah from Dunlop as exceeded my expectation but I was So "Wrong!!!!" After a few weeks, the CM95 has shown defects, poor construction, and so-so tone. I've used wah pedals for over 30yrs from the "Original" VOX to Cry Baby's to every manufacturer in the world. I sold my RMC 3 wah for the CM95 and that was my first mistake.… read more I'm happy to say my new RMC 10 is absolutely incredible! The difference is the CM95 tries to do where the RMC 10 Does (extremely proficient) Professional piece of gear. I felt that my original review was incorrect and shouldn't be regarded as my final opinion, but if you Google the RMC 10, you'll find almost endless positive reviews (if your interested in true professional equipment) The CM95 is "OK" and should Not be considered as "Pro" level. The RMC 10 compared to the CM95 is more Sweeter, Warmer and has a 3D complexity tone, that's very Natural. The CM95 uses "Cheaper" components, noisier with gain, Microphonic?? Try putting the CM95 in front of "Any" high-gain amp and "TAP" the casing. You'll hear the Microphonic tapping noise come through, during "Live" performance that would be "Unacceptable". It's like taking Off the "Wax" coating on a Humbucker pickup. The RMC 10 doesn't have any of that, just absolutely beautiful tone. Compare the RMC 10 to the CM95 for yourself (not just my opinion) and don't do what I did with the "Hype" of an "Italian" tone of the original in the CM95, "There is a huge Difference".
