Great little amp!
Great pedal platform, use it for rehearsals and gigs. Mostly use it Direct out to front of house but sounds great through my marshall 4x12 or my revv 1x12 cabinet. Cant go wrong with this one. In the 3 bands i play with, i can get country to metal sounds easily with pedals, two notes built in direct out/ and a effects loop. Its all i need !
To All "Praise and Worship" Guitarists: This is the Amp of the year for you.
I'm a worship guitarist that plays in multiple churches. I've been through your run of amps in the past: Fender Princeton Reverbs, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III's and IV's, Supro's, a Bugera V22, an Avid Eleven Rack, etc. The Revv D20 is the zenith. I've reached the top. It's the ultimate pedal-platform amp. It excels in providing a beautiful clean tone. The pull-out gain knob… read more makes it thicker and meatier, a treat for single coils. I paired it with the Revv 1x12 cab and it is a great match. I run a dual-mono signal to the front by having a SM57 on the Revv cab for one signal, and then I have another signal coming from the DI out on the Revv that is putting out an IR of a Badcat 2x12. What a mix! I've never sounded this good. The buffered effects loop takes my Strymon Timeline, Free The Tone AS-1R Ambi-Space Reverb, and Walrus Audio Julia Chorus. Those pedals have never sounded so clear. And if you're worried about stage volume, you can knock this thing down to 4 watts (from 20 watts), and even just use the DI out with the Two-Notes software and you'll still be giving a world-class tone to the FOH. Everything I've ever needed as a worship guitarist is in this amp.
Even Better Than I’d Hoped
This was a bit of an impulse buy for me, but I couldn't be happier with it. The D20 has a lot of character in the clean tone, and it takes pedals fabulously well. The pull pot on the gain control adds some nice grit, particularly when you dig in. The only flaw I've seen in this amp is that it gets a little bit fizzy when you push the preamp gain to max, but if you need that much… read more gain you will probably be wanting to use an overdrive pedal in front of the amp anyways. As far as the features go, the effects loop is silent, the Two Notes integration works incredibly well, and the headphone out works great for silent play. Bottom line - this is the perfect "2020/Covid" home studio or bedroom pedal platform amp.
Small amp, BIG sound!
When I learned about the D20, I knew I had to get one. It was the product I was wanting but hadn't found. Excellent quality, sound and features. I then went further and got a G2 and G3 to go along with it. Pure bliss! Thanks Revv for these great products!
The Perfect Platform Amp
This amp has been a perfect clean amp to use as a platform for pedals. The amp itself has a fantastic clean channel and can achieve some nice crunch tones on its own, but where it shines for me is running pedals through it to shape my tone. The amp is incredibly versatile and I’ve used it in a number of settings already. Through the headphone jack as a practice amp, direct into… read more an audio interface for recording, and direct into a PA in a live setting. It’s performed amazing in all three and my tones have been incredibly consistent in all scenarios. I mainly purchased this unit to use for recording and home playing. Living in an apartment, I wanted to get genuine cranked tube tones for recording and jamming while being as silent as possible. I can say the Revv D20 is all I was looking for and more. The Two Notes software and hardware integrated with this head has been a breeze to work with and offers tremendous tweaking opportunities. The Revv D20 Is a powerhouse for recording, bedroom playing, and gigging, especially if you build your tone with pedals.
