Great mini head
This thing is a beast. For the pics it's great. I use mine in my lesson room and it really produces huge tones. The variac actually works and this thing sounds like a more expensive amp. It's a fun amp to play and it's surprising how loud this little thing is.
Killer little Amp!
Just got this amp from Sweetwater and I must say I am very impressed! Especially being a tube amp snob who would never play through a solid state amp but low and behold, this little power house sounds amazing! And the price was crazy low! Thank you Ken and the rest of the staff at Sweetwater, Terry Dunn Banshee
Bogner hit a home run
This mini head is well built, sounds great through my 4x12 cab. Effects loop works great. This little head is loud, and it will blow you away! I get some nice tones through this head. I would highly recommend this product
Great sounding mini head!
For those wondering if you can use this amp in a band situation... First rehearsal tonight with the amp. Ran through a late '70s/early '80s Marshall slant cab that was left at the drummers house by a previous guitar player (now deceased.) Ive used the cab a bunch, but am not sure what speakers are in it. One day I'll check. It is 16ohms total. The mini Bogner sounded fantastic.… read more The tones are very nice IMO. But I had the volume at 1:00, which is about as loud as it will go, and the amp was just barely loud enough for my situation. We are a rock band with 1 guitarist, a bassist, a singer, and electronic drums for rehearsal. (acoustic drums live) If we had two guitarists and used acoustic drums in rehearsal, it wouldn't have been loud enough. So... It may or may not work with your band. I don't consider us crazy loud, but who knows. It worked and sounded great, but there was no wiggle room. Would like one of these in a more normal size head shall (still compact though) at a more powerful 100-watts. My 20-watt Friedman JJ Jr is louder, but that's probably no surprise. For any other slightly lower volume situation, the amp is awesome! Ridiculously great distortion sounds (and I own a 101B.)
Wow. Honey, I shrunk the Bogner head
My primary rig is a high-end pedalboard with a Strymon Iridium feeding a Friedman ASM frfr monitor. I bought the mini Ecstasy on a whim and after watching Pete Thorn's demo. This is now my "pure rock" practice rig. I don't know how well the amp takes petals as I'm going directly into the front end with nothing in a signal path. It's loud enough to keep up with most drummers and… read more gets progressively louder until 1:00 at which point it just becomes more compressed, not really louder. Love the switches to shape my exact sound and the variable gain settings on tap. No it does not do chi-my cleans well. It's not designed for that but gives a nice edge of breakup sound at lower gain settings. I paired the Bogner with a new Mesa 1x10 cab with a Celestion Creamback and it's a great match!
