Very Nice Guitar, but Arrived with Damage

I want to love the guitar, it sounds and plays great. However, it arrived with fretboard damage and I am still waiting for resolution. So, this has kept me from playing it and bonding which makes me sad. I think it is a wonderful piece otherwise with a bright (but not shrill) tone and some cool flexibility with the push/pull knob for coil split. I hope it all works out and I can… read more love it.

JUST TRY ME

I get chills just opening the case of this bad boy! Plays everything from smooth blues to heavy rock with ease. I have never played the infamous Gibson 335 and now I really dont care if I EVER DO! GREAT SERVICE at Sweetwater as always and Wayne Wildman is a wild man and deserves a heafty raise! Sheraton II Pro

Purchased mine (Ebony) from a competitor's store in Toledo, Ohio back in 2017. Beautiful guitar through and through. I owned an Epi FA 250 that I purchased back in 1977-78. It was a total hollowbody. Had the bigsby and sounded really great. After playing it for over 30 years, the fretboard was wore out. Hated to get rid of it, but intonation was horrible where the frets had… read more been hollowed out after years of playing. Went with the Sheraton, but was not real impressed with the sound. I play in a classic rock band and the Sheraton just got lost alongside the other two Strats. It was a little too muddy for me, plus, I could not keep the dang thing in tune!. One bend on the G string and it was out of tune. I was having to tune up after every song. Mates were growing impatient. So, traded it in on an American Tele. Wow, now that's a keeper! But I have not given up on Epiphone! I am currently awaiting a Casino (on backorder through Sweetwater) as soon as they become available. Going for that full Hollowbody sound again! I would have given 5 stars if I was able to keep it in tune. The tuners and the new nut material were two of the reasons I bought the guitar. But in the end, they didn't help. This is well worth it for every reason.

I been playing guitar since age 16 and played professionally my adult life. Now age 62. Once I got the skills to start playing out I saved a lot of hard earned cash and bought a new 1977 Gibson Custom Les Paul in 77. It was a work of art and the sound and sustain was always so controlled and that was my guitar of choice for about 40 years, through all kinds of gigs from biker… read more bars to wedding venues I did it all. I retired this year and have a very nice home recording studio and always wanted a Gibson ES 335. I am all for made in USA but I was left with a choice 3000 bucks for another Gibson or 700 for a Epiphone version? I read the reviews even watched the videos on line of the China Factory and the process they are built under supervision of american supervisor who are employed by Epiphone to run the plant. It changed my mind. Automation is really amazing. I decided to go with the Black Sheraton 2 Pro for 700. When it arrived after holding and playing it awhile and I was very pleased with the neck and the sound< but really with the fit and finish. After playing the Gibson Les Paul Custom my whole life and now trying the Epiphone It felt of the same like quality to me as what I been used to. Of course they are 2 different guitars and my Les Paul has a very fast fret board but I had that perfected by a very good guitar builder years in my past who tweaked it to perfection. But the Sheraton fret board was very nice, comfortable as well. I will do a setup and add DR brand strings. When I placed the 2 guitars side by side I have to say the finish fit and finish were to my eye and feel very similar. As far as made in USA I really try to buy and will spend a little more to buy USA products but in the case of this guitar its a lot more then a little more and I would not have gotten the Gibson 335. But now I have a very close copy to enjoy and use to record and what ever comes along. The sound is different then the Les Paul and in the end thats why I wanted one. It also confirmed what most reviews claimed to be a very well made and sounding guitar by a American owned comany building guitars in China.
