These strings have a nice feel to them for a nylon core. They play well and the sound for an acoustic bass is clear and punchy. I did try to drop tune the E string down to D and while it is doable I didn't totally care for the sound when dropped down and the string looses a little more of its tension than I would like it to. I could wish that D'Addario or someone else would come out with another option or two in strings for this bass since Taylor advises against using anything else at this time. Fine when they work

I think it's remarkable that they've developed these strings for this little bass. In general they are great. But out of the few sets that I've bought, one of them had a dead E string. I don't know how this could happen. I would think it would be an anomaly, but a friend of mine has the same bass and had the same problem with one of the sets she bought. Perhaps their quality control… read more isn't everything it should be. I also note that when the strings age, the outer winding starts to corrode and they leave a brown residue on my fingers after playing them. The mini bass is a great instrument, and I hope other companies will start making strings for them.
