Great bass but make sure the fretboard is not too dry
This is a great looking and Fender bass and fun to play. I have received many compliments on it. I gave it 4 stars only because the pau ferro fretboard was bone dry and I even noticed a small crack that can be seen in the center of the photo. I have since treated it with F-ONE oil and the wood now looks much healthier than when I received it. Unfortunately, the crack appears to… read more be there to stay.
Awesome to play when seated
This is a sweet little compliment to my Fender precision bass. It is a little bit shorter than the p-bass, therefore a little bit easier to reach. A little bit different sound as well. It has 3settings for sound 1for tone and 1 for volume. I love it!
Fantastic short scale bass
Have had my bass now for a few months and love it. Great sound and smaller neck which is great for my smaller hands. Just really comfortable to play. Highly recommend.
Very Nice Guitar
I purchased a Surf Green bass and it's really nice. I am a multi-instrumentalist but mainly play guitar, so I was looking for something with a shorter scale as I am playing bass in a Chris Stapleton tribute. If you listen to the bass tracks in his music, they are very melodic and all over the fret board, so I needed a bass that wasn't too far off scale from a regular guitar. … read more This bass nails it. Very smooth and easy to get around. As for the sound, it's perfect for what I need, and there's so many other tones you can get as well. I still get a nice deep punchy sound, even with it being short scale. It was actually setup real nice out of the box, good enough to where I haven't adjusted anything yet and I've been playing this every night for about a month now. The workmanship quality is great too - I haven't noticed any flaws in the guitar yet. This is a great bass. If you're looking for something short scale, this is a really nice option.
Adorable and capable.
I have tiny hands that aren't getting any younger. Electric basses tend to be painful, but I drop tune a lot and had been scared off of short scale models because of this. I decided to try one anyway. I wish I'd done it sooner as there was really nothing to be afraid of. No, you're not going to have a great time if you tune two steps down, but a half step or a dropped D are really… read more no problem at all for this thing. Construction is solid, electronics are just fine with no glaring fit-and-finish issues anywhere--pots are actually surprisingly smooth for an import. The tuners are not the greatest in the world--backlash is quite noticeable but totally fine at this price point. I did have to change the orientation of the pickup selector switch as you'll constantly flip it with your knee if you're playing seated. Took 30 seconds. Sounds great and I honestly have no complaints.
