Punchy. This thing is surprisingly punchy in the lower mids. Of course I would expect it to be nice and focused in the bottom end as most round shoulder j45s are but this one has a punchy mid that I've never heard on a j45 and some really nice sparkly not high highs like 10K highs but but 6K highs which is a great recording frequency plus it's got a nice 3.5 and not too much 400… read more which can be a nightmare

1960s J-45 Review
I can't say enough good things about this model. Yes, it's a world-class. strummer, but it works just as well for fingerpicking (thanks to the awesome spacing on the nut). It has resonance and sustain for days! I have wanted a J-45 forever, and this one caught my eye because of the late 69's period-correct features—that nice cream binding, the cool logo on the pickguard—it looks… read more even more impressive in person. Played it for four hours straight the first night I had it and don't think I'll be putting it down anytime soon.
