Works well with heavy strings

Kyle Jackson

I put this on a project P-Bass I wanted to tune B-E-A-D, using .125-.065 strings. I had plenty of height adjustment to get a good string height with room to spare, and more importantly, I had enough adjustment to intonate that low B string. I think there's enough room left for .130s or perhaps heavier, but I haven't tried it. The extra mass over the basic Squier bridge really helps read more balance the bass with the heavy factory tuning machines. All in all, a good value for the money. I knocked a star because the hex wrench to adjust the saddle height is TINY (it works fine), it didn't come with mounting screws (the stock Squier bridge screws worked fine, but still), and the plating on the saddles is acceptable at best. I'd almost prefer the raw brass saddles. Almost. Truly, I'm picking nits here. I can't compare tone or sustain or any of those subjective things since I changed too much at once (strings, tuning, etc.) but the bass sounds great, the string tension on that low B is pretty good, and I don't have set screws poking through the saddles to annoy me when I palm mute. I'm happy.

This bridge really improved my squier CV70's jazz bass, is more stable and the intonation was easy to setup, fits perfectly, no need to drill holes or cover them. The best part is the customer service! I email Alex on a Saturday night. he was off Monday, but another person help me, sorry i couldn't remember his name but anyways, this was the last bridge and he hold it for me and read more mail it right away. Thats why i love to buy from sweetwater! If my sell engineer is not working that day the other engineers take care of business right away! Best customer service!!!!
