Excellence is Rare
An absolutely incredible guitar in every way, and worth every penny. The craftsmanship and artistry of the Ibanez Custom shop is on display in every aspect of this guitar. The neck inlays are intricateley elaborate and yet there's no filler where the cuts didn't perfectly match the inlays. The flamed maple top is flawless (on my instrument, at least), and the hardware is a beautiful,… read more subtle "smoked chrome" finish. The pickups sound great, the action was perfect out of the box, and it plays as beautifully as it looks. The Edge Zero is the best of the Floyd Rose variants, in my opinion, with thoughtful design that makes things like intonation simple (the strings need not be detuned to adjust). My only minor complaint was the ZPS system on the trem, which can be removed very easily. It makes odd noises and was causing some weird tuning issues that were promptly resolved as soon as I removed it. As an aside, this guitar comes with Gotoh EPR strap locks which are color-matched to the hardware so I don't need to worry about installing aftermarket straplock buttons as I've done on all my other guitars. A nice touch. On a side note, I received this guitar just days after returning a Gibson Les Paul Custom ("Black Beauty", from their Custom Shop). That guitar was significantly more expensive than this. While it was a great guitar with great sound and a classic look, it was not worth the money in my opinion. With the Gibson, you're paying a premium for the name. With the Ibanez, you're paying for the guitar and the excellent craftsmanship that went into it. If anyone makes a better guitar than this under $10k, I'd like to know about it.
Simply awesome!
I have another 6 strings J-Custom and was expecting a similar quality when I bought this one, but this Ibanez takes it to a completely different level. It has everything you could wish for, and more. Playability is exceptional. The pickups are phenomenal - I personally like playing some progressive metal, heavy metal, and metalcore, but this guitar can handle pretty much anything… read more at its best! Absolutely ergonomic, considerably light, and the neck is built for speed. You will not be disappointed with this guitar.
