The last brand of string I’ll ever buy
I can't say enough about these strings. I played rounds for 30 years…well…no longer. I've found the flat wound I've been searching for. Amazing tone, playability, and feel. Plenty of articulation, harmonic overtones, and slinky feel (for flats). They last for years. I won't be buying another type or brand of strings until something better comes along…of which, I'm quite… read more skeptical will ever happen.
Always awesome
Several years ago, after trying many major brands of flat wound bass strings, I decided to bite the bullet and buy some Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats. After a few minutes of playing them, I was blown away by their sound quality - - not dead-sounding like a lot of flat wounds - - and their super-smooth playability. They sound and feel much better than anything else. I've been using… read more them for years and I'm a customer of these for life. Although some people might be put off by the Jazz Flat's price, you shouldn't let that deter you: these strings last for years. If you consider how long they last as well as their superior playability and sound, they are actually a lot less expensive than other flats that you'll replace several times while the Jazz Flats are still going strong. I bought these to install on a new short-scale bass and they took the bass and made a gigantic improvement in the sound of this bass. Try some Jazz Flats on your bass and prepare to be blown away
Woo Wee
I've become a real fan of TI strings in a multitude of settings and configurations. At this point all my basses have been converted to Thomatik-infelds except for one P bass with La Bellas. I put these on my JMJ mustang after trying out the original Fender Flats that it shipped with as well as the GHS SS Boomers. This is the string I stayed with for a few reasons. TI flats have… read more a fair amount of midrange articulation and this works spectacularly on the mustang giving it nice dubby round sound. I do not find them too floppy as some have complained about but I don't prefer high tension strings or dig in really hard with fingers or a pick so ymmv depending on your playing style and needs. Anyway the mustang with these strings is fantastic for synth heavy mixes because even with flats that midrange cuts through a bit and sits forward without really losing any low end. I go through a lot of pains to try to pair the right set of strings with the bass, I've blown a lot of money on that venture as well. I know these strings are expensive but any longer when in doubt I just go to these first and see if they fit the bass and if not then go for some other standbys that I also like, namely Galli Nickels, Dr String Sunbeams, La Bellas etc.
Worth every penny
What a difference these strings make. Swapped out the stock strings on my Fender Mustang Bass for these. Smooth, sweet and a touch on the light side. I would recommend these strings.
