Mesa Mark V 25 a metal heads dream
Ok .. I just recently made my first tube amp purchase and i am very stoked. This amp is sooo good I passed by the other amps because deep down I always wanted a Mesa boogie amp . You so much versatility in this amp for tone I bought mine with an Ibanez tube screamer so I could boost the crunch channel and get a boosted metal tone and it does it very well. I got some Slayer type… read more of tones out of that channel with the boost and of course the other channel contains metallica and various other popular metal tones. This amp handles my seven string very very well .Buy it you won't regret it !
Very good
The Mark Five:25 is a very versatile little amp. Though small it is capable of a lot of volume. The two channels have three modes each, so with the normal treble/middle/bass/presence plus the graphic EQ there is a huge tonal range. Since the graphic EQ is footswitchable it kind of acts like a pseudo third channel. Oh, and it's switchable down to 10 watts too. The effects loop… read more is a nice addition. The headphone jack is much more useful than I expected. It's kind of amazing that they were able to put so many features into such a small package. I think the teal color looks great. The only things I would change would be to put the footswitch jack in the back instead of the front, move the reverb controls to the front, and make the reverb footswitchable. Other than those minor things this amp is pretty much perfect. I have this paired with the Mesa Mini Rectifier 1x12 cabinet and I can get blackface-style cleans, British growl, and high gain craziness all from this little amp. The V1 preamp tube failed after the first two hours I had the amp but Sweetwater sent me a replacement tube. Must have just been a bad tube. Replacing the tube was a bit of a challenge since everything is kind of crammed into the small amp cabinet and there are not really instructions in the manual for taking the thing apart to replace the tubes, but with some patience I was able to get it changed and the amp has been fine ever since.
