So Good and So Loud

I run this thru a stock Orange 2x12 Closed-Back and absolutely love the tones. So far at home I've played on half-power because its just so powerful in full mode. The dirty channel is unreal. Such a unique metal tone. Huge fat chugs and screaming leads louder than you would ever need them. A true working mans amp to get absolutely everything done. Clean tone feels very fender inspired read more but is a great pedal platform. The knobs produce only usable tones. Effects in the loop sound great. But seriously, its LOUD. The dirty channel on full power is very loud in a bedroom at its quietest. This amp and a 2x12 would be all you need to perform ANY stage you see yourself on.

This amp is the perfect middle ground between a full size head and other lunchbox heads. Most 15 watt amps can't keep up with a drummer, this can. In reality this is closer to 25 watts, there are YouTube videos confirming this. This can cover anything from bedroom volumes to bar gigs with a full band. That being said, getting low volume tones can be difficult with the volume pot. read more It's very very touchy. I ordered a JHS little black box and put that in the loop. It acts as a master volume and lets you have a very fine control of the volume level. I highly recommend one, I didn't need an attenuator after this. Also many people on forums complained of a noisy effects loop and I also noticed a bit of noise. I ordered a 12au7 tube and switched it for the 12ax7 that powers the loop. It's the tube sitting behind the row of preamp tubes in the front and the power tubes in the back. This took care of any noise in the loop without changing tone or gain at all. Obviously take your amp to a tech if you aren't comfortable with this but swapping tubes is pretty easy and there's YouTube vids on this very amp. Clean channel sounds great with lots of headroom. Lead channel has all the gain you'd ever need and kind of sounds like a mix of a 5150 and a Dual Rectifier. I have the older one with 6l6s but I can't imagine the 5881 tubes can sound any worse, and this amp sounds great! Very well built, sounds better than amps costing much, much more.

Best amp you can buy for under a grand.

I've owned quite a few amps over the years, and this is by far my favorite one. It'll do anything you could want it to as far as rock and metal goes, and the clean channel is fantastic too for being a high gain amp. This is the loudest 15w amp I've ever heard, it blows my 120w solid state Orange out of the water, I have this amp a quarter of the way up in volume and I'm surprised read more the cops haven't came knocking on my door yet! But this amp, it's incredible.

Wow, just wow!

I just purchased the PRS MT15 with the matching 1 x 12 cabinet. Wow, this thing rocks! I have only had it on the 7 watt setting and it is plenty loud enough to play over a drummer. You can get some nice clean tones with a lot of low end. The lead channel is just killer. Kudos to Mark Tremonti and the people at PRS for creating this. I play mostly metal and this thing blew me away. read more Lead channel is super tight and punchy. This is the first tube amp I have owned and I am glad I chose it.

One of the best purchases I've ever made

I was using a 4x12 Mesa cab with a Triple Rec for years and nothing else could get the tone I was getting with that setup. When I decided to downsize to a 2x12 for the sake of my back, I needed a smaller head that still packed a punch. This is it. The clean tones cover a wide range, it feels like every Fender amp tone packed into one spot. The distorted channel has equal range, read more allowing you to accomplish anything from classic rock to modern technical metal. The blue/red LEDs that light up with each channel are an added bonus and add a nice flair to the stage and practice space. Super light, rugged construction, the gig bag is a nice touch. I used this amp and an Ibanez Prestige RG 7 string for the recording below.
