Perfect for my Kamaka ukuleles!
I love this system! I gave it in all my Kamaka ukuleles. I have 3 Kamaka tenors, 1 Kamaka sail head concert, and two Kamaka sopranos (one classic, one pineapple). Let me tell you!!!!! Kamaka's already produced the best sounds. Putting these in has just amplified it for everyone to hear. The sounds are intricate and on point. I use nothing but Fishman pickups in my Martin guitars… read more and Kamaka ukuleles. Only the best, for the best!
Great Sound - Difficult Uke Installation
I have a beautiful custom made Kanile'a Tenor Uke. Unfortunately, I was not happy with the tone of the under-saddle pickup I had selected. It was too bright, far too hot, and no volume control. I have a Fishman mic blend products in my Santa Cruz 6 string and love it. So, this was an obvious replacement for my Uke. SOUND: The sound is everything I had hoped for!! The mic… read more add warmth and breath and brings forth the beautiful acoustic sound of this Kanile'a. CONTROLS: With volume, tone, and blend you have precise control over you sound. Perfect! INSTALATION: Unfortunately Fishman did build this from the ground up to be a Uke pickup. It appears they took their guitar Matrix Infinity Mic Blend pickup and swapped the under-saddle transducer with one made of a Uke. Everything else is the same which means you have several inches of excess wire going to each control that needs to be bundled up. There are no tips as there were to place the mic in a uke. In my Kanile'a there is a brace where they suggest it be placed it in a guitar. In fact, nowhere in the documentations do they even mention Ukulele! BOTTOM LINE: The sound & functionality are fantastic!!! A solid 5+ While a 9v battery is large for a small uke, 9 volt preamps such as this provide much more headroom and clarity than 6v or 3v systems. Shorter wires and uke specific instructions would have been greatly appreciated. Installation a 3.
