Big time upgrade over the stock pickup!
I bought this to upgrade the stock pickup in the GS Mini which was just not good. Well words can't express the quality of improved sound!! In order to repurpose the original stock preamp hole I bought a battery box close to the size and opened it up a bit for the new battery box heated the box with a heat gun to pickup the contour of the body and guess what! It's perfect and you… read more don't have to go into the body to change a battery now with the velcro bag. I really outdid myself too bad I fell out of love with the GS Mini and it's gone traded it in, but the store loved the work and I'm sure sold it almost immediately.
WOW!!!
I just put a Matrix Infinity in a Martin DR (their economy series), had a bit of trouble with the bass strings response and Gary (at Fishman) helped me thru that. I have since dialed it in (completely flat on the tone control) and played it live 3 times now. This is the PUREST, most NATURAL tone from a pick up I have ever heard! My friends all say the same thing too!!! Seriously… read more considering replacing my Rare Earth Humbucker in my Gibson SJ-200 with one of these. You have a real winner here folks!!!
Fishman Matrix Infinity VT Acoustic Pickup-Narrow Saddle
What I wanted was an affordable pickup for my Martin OOO JR, a guitar I play through a Roland Cube Street. It perfectly replicates the guitar's natural tone without any extraneous buzzing or hissing. I'm complete satisfied with this guitar/pickup set up and look forward to playing it through my Fishman Loudbox if/when I need more volume on a gig.
Amazing little Pickup!
Just put this in my GS Mini - Rosewood and ran it through its paces. I had originally gotten the Taylor ES Go magnetic pickup for almost half the price. I AM SO GLAD I RETURNED IT FOR THIS! For two major reasons: 1) Leaving the ES Go in my Taylor DRASTICALLY changed what the guitar sounded like acoustically, very much for the worse. Killed the low end and "body" of the guitar,… read more and lowered the overall volume a smidge. 2) Generally sounded like a magnetic pickup, which means it got the job done, but at bare minimum, and you have no controls. I've never done anything like this on a guitar before (but I'm otherwise generally a handyman), but with a little help from YouTube I had this in really quick, sanded the saddle down to compensate for the pickup, and we're in business. Sounds great. The low end bump switch works great for my small body guitar. With just Tone control adjusted half-way (generally gives a smile eq) I really like the sound I'm getting out of it. If you're considering saving $... to get the ES Go for a GS Mini... DON'T DO IT! This is WAY worth the extra cost and effort, both plugged in and acoustic!
Excellent upgrade
I installed this system in my Yamaha CSF3M. The installation was easy and it sounds great. The pickup is about 0.5mm thinner than the original. With the factory saddle it still sets up fine with no playability issues.
