Sounds great but broke almost immediately.

It sounds great. I will give it that. It survived one gig and then immediately broke when I put my guitar back in the case. It is designed to sound great, but structurally, I would give it negative 5 stars if I could. It's basically a bulky, awkwardly shaped toothpick with less resistance to breaking than a regular popsicle stick. It's almost as if it is designed to self-destruct… read more after its first use. I would buy it again if it were $6.99. But the price, for what it is, is absolutely ridiculous.

Sounds great, but needs some TLC

When I first got the pickup, it had a horrible hum and was unusable. I had the guitar techs look at it and none could figure out why it hummed, on all guitars and amps. I got a return label, but before I sent it back, I thought I would try one last thing. I cleaned both ends of the cord and the volume knob with Blow Off Electronic Cleaner. The hum disappeared, and the pickup sounds… read more great. So when you get one, be sure to clean it well before you use it, and it should work great.

Does a great job for a reasonable price

I have an Alvarez Yairi classical that sounds great live but a little too "punchy" when I record, so I thought I'd do the "Nashville" thing and record using two channels, one for a piezo and the other miked. Recording in stereo (one side piezo, the other miked) gave a much better sound as I could blend. Later I decided to try it on my Bose S-1 amp and the "punchy" sound could… read more not be equed out, but was not unpleasant, but pretty midrange in sound. Later I tried my JBL Eon 1 and was able to get a marvelous sound just off the piezo. So I thought it was an easy install, didn't have to drill into my guitar, and it gets a nice sound. A great deal for the money!

EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED

I love this pick-up! I have a Spanish classical nylon string guitar I inherited from my father and I did not want to damage the guitar in any way. Using a mic did not seem like a good solution because it would make the logistics cumbersome when performing. All the pick-ups that fit in the hole of the guitar were to large for my guitar. This lovely little pick-up is the perfect… read more solution! Other reviews here say it takes 5 minutes to install. Good for them! It took me about a half-hour as I wanted to be careful not to damage the pick-up...and re-tuning took some time after installation as you have to loosen all your strings. However, it is now installed and it can stay. It doesn't get in the way when I play and it looks beautiful. The wood finish is lovely and looks like it belongs on my guitar. Of course, the most important thing is how it sounds. Well, it sounds great!! My guitar sounds like my guitar. Super clean and authentic sound. Lovely. I have not yet cranked up the volume on my P.A. super loud, but loud enough for me to know that this pick-up does a great job. Super happy with this purchase.

Not worth buying better to buy irig or microphone

I really want to love this product unfortunately it needs a lot of improvement its not usable very disappointed. It generates to much hissing noise when recording to the computer or using on an amp. Save your money and buy an instrument microphone or an irig acustic studio to use for your guita. Sweetwater support is amazing was able to return the product thank you Tyler.
