Incredible strings
These are worth the extra pennies you would pay on the regular D'addario XL string pack. These strings have the best feel (similar to S.I.T strings). Sound wise is what you expect from the infamous XL strings that we all know, however, these strings have more clarity and punch compared to the regular XL strings which is great for fretless basses to get that "muah" sound even more… read more pronounced. Also the harmonics are louder and clear. Incredible job from the folks at D'addario. Highly recommend this set for your bass.
I like 'em!
Clean, crisp tone - a "live" string. Only improvement for me would be to wrap the ends on the tuning machine like other strings do. It makes it easier for me to grab and wind.
D'Addario NY XL Bass strings
I give these strings a five star rating because of the feel of these strings are smooth when I am fretting each note and moving from fret to fret there isn't any zinging noise and I am a finger guy so I don't use a pick and with these I am faster! The tone is very nice too they produce a nice growl with good punch much better than so many other strings that I've used, it's no wonder… read more why some the guys at Sweet Water like them. They were highly recommended by the guys at Sweet Water. Thank you so much Sweet Water!
Great strings!!
On my bench today was a bone stock Squire Tele bass - the base model with just the single Strat-style pickup. I decided this humble entry-level student hatchet (not quite an axe...) would be a real test for these strings. Put 'em on, gave it a thorough set-up, plugged it in... And was blown away! The feel, even on this 32" scale, is exceptional. The tone is just meaty and solid… read more and centered. Less stretch-in was needed, tuning is rock solid. Plenty of growl and nice touch-sensitive response. Not a single wolf or dead note anywhere. I would not hesitate to gig with this bass and these strings! Can't wait to see what they do for a 'real' bass!! Couldn't be more impressed!
