Can Quack

Nic

This filter can coax a lot of tones, but it has a really specific behavior. It will give you anything from static filter to cocked wah, to resonant quacks. It took me at least an hour of playing with it to find a few good settings, so this isn't one that works right out of the box. The range each control has is very wide, and the envelope opens quickly and stays open fairly long. read more If there were attack/release settings this would be a home run, but as designed I can't give it a full 5 stars. To Fender designers: drop the overdrive and add envelope controls, and change the sensitivity such that I don't have to boost my signal before the filter. Single coils alone are too weak to open the envelope.

A welcome pedal

Envelope filter pedals are quirky and complicated. In 40+ years I've never trusted one in a live situation - in the studio you can tweak them and make them work. This one I can confidently use on a gig. That means a lot.
