ENGL Powerball 2
So I bought this head about 2 weeks ago after running into issues with my main unit, a Mesa Dual rectifier. That thing treaded me great and is getting fixed for future studio use. However, I needed a new reliable amp. After borrowing a friends ENGL Fireball 100 I knew the company had potential to meet my high expectations. And holy hell did it, it rips high gain and is loud (real… read more Loud)... but best of all its clear and QUIET. I've battled with amp hums and hisses for years with my amps but this thing has a "built in GATE" and those words are golden. Highly Recommended!
Amazing CHUGster
Have had this for a little over a month now and still have a huge smile on my face every time I plug into it. For brutal, searing, chainsaw distortion, this is the way to go. If metal is your game and you like to chug the gain train express, Powerball… read more II this is the way to go.
Been Playing the same PB2 for 6 years
This is a great amp! Great cleans and solid hi-gain tones. Channel 1 is a nice thick clean, Channel 2 can get you killer dirty cleans...or dial it up and you'll get some classic rock tones that'll have you floored. C3 is where the Metal heads will live...Deep powerful and clear distortion..add in the bottom switch and the Deep knob and you'll be pushing the cab to its limits.… read more If you dial down ch3 you can get some FAT classic rock tones. Ch 4 is like channel 3 but with more sparkle and less bottom end. This is great for a solo channel, but also great for having a gain channel that lives in a different spectrum. All that said, the cab you use will also differ the personality with this head...so experiment there too. In the 6 years I've owned this head it's been around...I use my gear but I am not careless with my gear. I've never needed a repair, and only changed the tubes recently because the powertubes were 6 years old.
