No question. Worth it
The profiler is just awesome. I would have been happy with the amps included and the available rigs online. But the the effects just take it over the top. The delays are nuts, the modern and vintage take on reverb, the phasers, etc., all sound great. Having MIDI control over everything is another huge plus.
A studio “must own“
This is a fabulous tool. Many of today's modelers are loaded with effects and routing options and additional I/O which is really great but being able to dial in a great tone quickly for other artists make this a "must own" item for any studio in the new era of recording. I need to make something absolutely clear, I re-amp all of the guitar tracks I use and I don't always use the… read more kemper in that process. Still, instead of having other guitar players lug heavy amp heads in and out of my studio it is a major plus and a time saver. And while I do own a few amps and twice as many guitar cabinets, the immediate ability to set up a palatable tone and start tracking (of course with a separate DI box) is a very big deal. This unit focuses on amp and cabinet tone. You'll spend less time dialing in tones and more time tracking guitars. For me, and I assume many others, this unit will help recording engineers and producers get down to business quickly instead of spending ridiculous amounts of time staring at color screens and adjusting parameters and playing with effects. This is not a toy with lots of visual stimuli, but rather a solid tool, especially for those lacking the space and funds to collect amplifiers. I use mine to track guitars, even when I may not use it in the re-amping process.
Ominous
Well, as a new guitar player but old musician, this Kemper is serious pro gear. I spent 6 months with amp sim software only to find their inherent limitations across all settings. The Kemper is a ton of money, no way around that but the studio functionality, unlimited tone possibilities and gear god level design... worth it. Dont spaz when you get it and rush to plug in, download… read more the Rig Manager and spend the time learning the signal paths. You will need at least 5 inputs on your DAW interface to record using the full output of the Kemper.
Amazing product
Absolutely incredible product holds ground with my Mesas, marshalls and Fryette amps..it has more real amp feel and tone than anything else I have heard next to actual tube amps.
Amazing tones
Right out of the box this thing rips. It comes pre-loaded with ~250 tones and once you connect to the Rig Exchange with the Rig Manager software, you have access to 10,000 user uploaded tones for guitar and bass. This is my new go-to for recording and live. Big thanks to Jacob Stutzman at Sweetwater for all his assistance!
