Probably the best octave pedal....

I had one of these before and like a dummy I sold it off looking for better pedals, problem is there isn't one. The tracking on this pedal is as good as it gets and more importantly its tone is better. I've had them all and I came back around to the Quint. It if had a lower 5th it would be just bloody perfect. I am selling my new Waza Boss as I just don't like the tone and sound read more the pedal produces. That is the true test of an octave pedal, listen to just the octave signals. This has the best bass tone lower octave of anything and virtually no glitching in the tracking. Upper octave is usable but not utterly amazing sort of like a POG but maybe not as synthy sounding. Highly recommended, before you get a POG version check out T-Rex they are just better pedals and sorry but this marks the end of my Boss days as well.

Nice poly sounds

I got this because I'm a worship guitarist and this type effect is a staple for brightening and thickening your tone at times. I see everyone with EHX POGs on their boards but of course I wanted to be different and I have not regretted it! Great options and tons of sounds you can get out of this! I love mine!

Best tracking on the market.

Sounds great, but the tracking is extraordinary. Sweetwater is still the best customer service in the industry.

Better than expected

If you're looking for an octave pedal, this one is extremely versatile and the sound quality is excellent. I play through a tube all and this pedal has the WOW factor. You can shake your neighbors walls too!

Great on Bass too!

I purchased the TRex Quint Machine looking to add some texture to my basslines and it has certainly done the trick and more for me. This is not an analog synth style octaver so if that is your thing keep looking. What we have here is a digital octave up and down plus a fifth up, very much like a famous pedal from NYC but I find the Quint to have a bit sweeter almost acoustic tonal read more character and tracks a bit more accurately especially nuances like pickup changes, tone changes, coil voice, string bends and harmonics. Tracking down to the open E string is flawless and even lower with a precise touch. It works fine with passive basses but can be clipped with high output active basses or extreme EQ settings. There are four controls Mix, +Fifth, +Octave and -Octave. Being able to dial in the volume of each voice separately adds a lot of options especially for bass resulting in piccolo or sub, 8, 12 or 16 string bass sounds from a four string bass. Dialing in some octave up to distortion sounds will help definition. Adding octave down will add fullness without getting muddy especially when playing lines up the neck or using the bridge pickup. Adding the fifth gives a harmony to a riff or melodic line or power chord along with the octave. If you are looking to replace a rhythm player or do some duo tunes with a drummer the Quint Machine will give you possibilities other pedals will not.
