A tone of its own

Brian

Granted I also currently own and play a DSL40CR and Blackstar HT50 MKII... this amp is neither of those but it"s still as liked and maybe even played more because it"s a little more home playing friendly over the Marshall that really doesn"t sound good until you"re above 90 dB. The Blackstar is also super nice and loved just as much. Because of this I will NOT say you can get any read more tone you want out of it. Egnater cleans are some of the best but not Fender or Marshall, if you want those, get those. Where the Rebel 30 shines is in classic to hard rock, really hard rock too but not so much high gain metal, for that get your self an LBXII or PRS MT15. I don"t use the EL84 side much but rather stay over on the 6V6 side. I also really love the power attenuators (they are NOT volume attenuators) they work great but you have to understand what they really do. The dual reverb is awesome as is the fx loop, although if using a looper in the fx loop you will lose the reverb when your loop is engaged...? Not a big deal really. I also recently compared this to the Tweaker 40 and have to say that the Rebel has slightly better tones (IMO) than the Tweaker and definitely more clean head room. The neat thing about the Tweaker is having two identical channels and they really rock but lack the harmonics available in the Rebel.

Great amp

This amp does it all. Love the separate reverb controls for each channel. There"s so many ways to dial in the tone you"re looking for, especially when changing between guitars.

Modern Times

I can not believe how many tone changes can be achieved in such quick amount of time. Years ago I started out with a crate 6212 had too cool the tubes down before changing them out. Now just the turn of a switch done. All these Bruce Egnater ideas with added Swiches for tone variables nice. Oh and for Riley at sweetwater thanks for your caring attention for fast service.

Simply, a great amp.

I've had this power punch for about two years now, and I gotta say, this amp is amazing! This guy packs a lot of sonic options in smaller package. Through recordings, rehearsals, gigs or just in the bedroom, it delivers! I really love this amp.

After a year...

After a year of owning this amp and using it in many live and some home recording situations I feel like I can confidently rate this amp a solid 5 stars. If you are after an QUALITY amp that will provide you with UNLIMITED TONAL POSSIBILITIES even at LOW VOLUMES at an AFFORDABLE PRICE that also looks STYLISH, you should consider the Eqnater Rebel 30 tube head. For more about read more my Egnater experience please find below my comments about TONE, QUALITY, and APARTMENT/BEDROOM VOLUME LEVELS. I truly hope you find these comments useful. Also, a big thank you to Bob Mondok and his team at Sweetwater for consistently providing the best customer service experience. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- TONE SPEAKER USED: 1x12 speaker cabinet - Celestion G12H30 PEDALS USED: None. On occasion one or combination of the following: CryBaby Wah, Way Huge Aqua-Puss, Ibanez TS9 CLEAN CHANNEL: thick, warm, organic, lush It really feels good when you play this channel. It inspires me to pay attention to the little details of my playing which always pushes me to be a better player. OVERDRIVE CHANNEL: impressively versatile There are a whole plethora of gain levels available ranges from literally, as clean as the clean channel, all the way to extreme, over-the-top overdriven amp and even fuzz tones as well any level you can ask for in between. My style of playing is of the old blues/folk tradition and all of gain levels clean up nicely with your guitars volume control. :) EQ CONTROLS: different, think outside of the box, this is an Egnater This amp was designed for the purpose of being as flexible and versatile an amp as possible. That fact also went into the design of the EQ controls. They don't function like other amps. If I told you how my EQ was set or took a picture of how my EQ was set to show you: You might would laugh at me. You might would think to yourself: "WHY? THAT MUST SOUND HORRIBLE!" EVERY TIME I have ever played this amp live, I have been approached by an audience member (that is a guitar player) who wants to compliment my tone and inquire about my Egnater. The conversation usually starts something like this, "Hey, I was over there and I heard your tone. It sounds really good. I had to come see what you were using." REVERB: usable I was doubtful, but find myself using it all of the time with pleasure. TIGHT/BRIGHT SWITCHES: pleasantly surprised While I don't use them often, some people will. They help make detailed adjustments to the tone quickly. TUBE MIX SWITCH (EL84-6V6): clever I cannot find enough positive to say about this feature. What an option to have. Thank you Bruce Egnater. VARIABLE WATTAGE CONTROL: worth the time to understand Because of my lack of knowledge, it was hard for me to understand. Once I understood the function of these dials, it was as if I received a new amp that can do anything. RECORD LINE OUT: n/a I'm not sure as I've only used this feature once. Maybe, I'll update later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUALITY: A+ I have had no quality problems with this amp. QUICK STORY: One time the amp got rained on at a festival. A puddle of water found it's way through the overhead canopy. There was nothing I could do. It fell right on top of the amp. The amp stopped making sounds. I borrowed an on-stage amp for the remainder of the performance. I took the amp to a local tech. He opened it up, checked everything out, kept if for the week. When I picked it up, he said, "Everything is A-OKAY, and furthermore that is a good amp you got there. I ran it a lot this week. I played it a lot this week. I really enjoyed it." I haven't had any trouble with it since. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- APARTMENT/BEDROOM VOLUME LEVELS: you better believe it I have read lots of reviews of people that have been dissatisfied with their ability to get low volume level tones with this amp. They have expressed extreme unsatisfactory results with VARIABLE WATTAGE CONTROL. My experience with this amp leads me to disagree with them. I have had HUGE success getting RIDICULOUSLY GOOD tones at whisper levels. It took me a while to figure it out, but it's there and now that I understand the amp it's easy to achieve. I can get it to sound every bit as good at normal conversation volume levels as it does at full volume levels. This is really useful when low volume levels are desired. Small intimate venues, certain recording situations, at home, etc. etc. People will always appreciate you being able to control your instrument and equipment and that is exactly what the Eganater Rebel 30 is all about. --------------------------------------------------------------------
