Ric Bass Amazing

My nephew had a 5 string Ric bass in the mid 90s. I loved the sound and playability. When I had the extra money to buy one they had stopped making the 5 string. The piano sounding bass and the sustain is amazing. Although the neck is a little bigger than I remember my nephew's being, it is still extremely easy to play. I have had a Fender Precision, a Fender Jazz, a custom hand made, and I currently own a Yamaha TRB-5 (from the 90s that I love). In my opinion there is nothing like the sound of a Ric Bass. I almost forgot... I love the walnut finish! Thanks Rickenbacker for bringing the 5 string back and thanks Sweetwater making them available.

Plays Amazing and Looks Beautiful!

Recently purchased this Rickenbacker 4003S5W from Sweetwater and it has far exceeded my expectations! The satin finish on the body and neck feels wonderful and almost feels soft to the touch. This makes moving around the neck feel really excellent. The spacing between the strings is near perfect for my taste as well. I had to raise the action of the B string when I first got it… read more out of the box as it was to close and was buzzing a bit on some frets. I also raised the E string a bit as it had a very light buzz occasionally. The B string has good presence without being overbearing and unbalanced. This bass sounds quite a bit different from the 4 string Rickenbackers and feels as though your playing something completely different while still having that Rickenbacker feel to it. After breaking it in, I plan to have a full professional setup done to it. If you are in the market for a 5 string, I highly recommend this one. My sales engineer Zac was insanely helpful on getting me the details on the guitar and making sure that it got to me quickly and safely. Very pleased with Sweetwater.
